My whole family used to crowd around the NES every weekend taking turns trying to beat this game, Lolo, and Zelda. StarTropics was one of our favorites, but we collectively could never beat it.

This. I’d much rather see them suffer being poor for a while before learning they can be reasonably happy at the level most people are at, and using their seized assets to bring the poorest up to a livable level.

According to this site, stone fruits like apricots, peaches, cherries, etc., dates, chewing gum, horseradish, jams, pears, apples, prunes, raisins, and many sugar-free processed foods have significant amounts in them.
