If I as a user don鈥檛 want to interact with or amplify an instance - such as lemmy.ml - for whatever reason

Is there a way to do so? I鈥檝e been blocking individual communities on Lemmy.ml to avoid amplifying that instance. But more pop up. Is there any way for me as a user to block an entire instance?

If you were running your own (even single-user) instance of lemmy, you could defederate with any instance and still participate in others as normal.

Since the developers are the problem, it鈥檚 probably not likely they鈥檒l implement. But I鈥檒l keep on eye on this and maybe contribute if there is a soft fork.

I don鈥檛 think I鈥檇 view them as a problem here. They need to triage the issues and they鈥檙e going to focus their efforts on things they see as a bigger benefit. They haven鈥檛 indicated that they would deny code contributions to add this feature.

We鈥檒l have to see, but by my past experiences with Tankies and other authoritarians, I don鈥檛 expect reasonable behavior.
