Lambiase (45) is under contract with Red Bull Racing through 2027. Until then, the English engineer—who also serves as Head of Racing at Red Bull—will not be going anywhere. He is expected to join rival team McLaren in 2028. This has been confirmed by multiple sources following earlier reports by De Limburger.
By bringing in Lambiase—scheduled for 2028—McLaren is already preparing for the possible departure of Andrea Stella. The Race are reporting that Lambiase will work with Stella and taking on some of his responsibilities, which makes more sense to me as it would seem like a big jump from what he’s doing now to go straight into a Team Principle role. To me, this speak more to a mentorship where Stella is developing talent to eventually replace him, and I’m sure there are others internally at McLaren who would by vying for this role as well.
Interesting… I wonder if Max is then also going to move there?
Or he knows Max is no longer in the picture and wants to be with a winning constructor and driver lineup.
