I can generate ideas way faster than I can actually work on those ideas, so please rank which of these you want to see most:
- Expand post to load more types on content directly in Blorp (e.g. redgifs were added recently)
- Less comments moving/shifting around as they load (most noticeable on posts with 100+ comments)
- Fix Android full screen video controls getting cut off (if you’ve seen this bug)
- The groundwork to allow viewing posts that aren’t in communities, which could maybe (no promises) make mbin possible
- Comment jump button, which jumps to the next top level comment
- Translate Blorp into other languages
- Continue adding support for nsfw content viewing
- Streamline login experience
- Edit alt text in posts and images in comments
- Edit community sidebar in Blorp
- Create communities in Blorp
- Promote moderators in Blorp
- Or anything else you wanna add
My time is limited, and some of these could send me on a 1+ month journey which would delay other work. Choose wisely
Personally the ability to edit alt text in images would be a priority, as this the main reason for not using Blorp full time on desktop. Doesn’t necessarily need be for comments, as you you can already add it in the markdown editor, but that’s just my use case. Also I noticed that with paginated view Blorp sometimes doesn’t scroll back up properly (not at or just part way).
Can you add some more detail reguarding the scroll back up not working properly? I can imagine it being broken in several ways, so I’m currous what steps you’re doing specificlly where you see this.
Alt text in post images is way easier than comment images. That makes things much easier.

After more testing this happens on blorpblorp.xyz (both in the mobile ans desktop layout) and the IOS app
Interesting. That shouldn’t be too difficult to fix.
Just to clarify:
- It doesn’t scroll all the way to the top (I see that)
- Does it also cut off the top of the first post in your video? Can you still manually scroll to the top of the feed?
No it doesn’t, it’s just that I only scrolled up a bit
Makes sense! Now I understand the scope of the problem. I think I’m gonna make it just jump to the top as soon as you go to the next page with no animation.
viewing posts that aren’t in communities
Integrating microblogging more has been a common request in PieFed, but I keep running into this issue whenever I think about it. Posts belonging to a community are so integral to how the whole system works that undoing that is a huge lift.
I don’t know how much of a lift it might be from the UI side when consuming mbin’s API, but at least on the server side, this feature is likely to just be mbin for the foreseeable future.
Yeah that’s what I think everytime someone asks for mbin support. But I had a crazy idea. If I was able to get this to work, potentally I could get some level of support for Mastodon. Though Lemmy/PieFed will always be my main focus.
Preface: goodness do I hate scrum/agile, but…
It might help if you were to give some idea of how much work you think each would take. T-shirt sizing, as they like to say. I doubt anyone would want to see you sink tons of time into a low value feature.
For your own benefit, maybe add each feature as a top level comment. That way you can just sort by upvotes.
While I have suggestions for both Blorp and Mlem that I hope will ultimately lead to them adopting more Arctic features (a shame it wasn’t open sourced), the basic feature I think would be most useful are swipe actions. I think I mentioned it at some point, but the option to swipe as an alternative to tapping small icons would improve accessibility and versatility (ideally such swipes could be customized). Arctic’s implementation is still my favorite, but as another reference, Mlem did update their implementation to also feature a customizable three-swipe per side system.
Something else I think would be useful would be the addition of an ‘All’ section to the left of ‘Posts’ and ‘Comments’ on the user profile page as a way of seeing both content types grouped together by overall recency.
Of the listed features, I think having an alternative to Interstellar with Lemmy, Piefed, and Mbin support would be great, but in pragmatic terms the small user base for Mbin might warrant focusing efforts elsewhere first. I think better in-app content support would be a good point of differentiation.
I have a problem, or I’m not able to properly add communities. If I click the search button and give the URL, it gives me similar communities, but it doesn’t give me the one I’m looking for. If I want to get the exact one I’m looking for, I have to actually open another app such as Thunder. I have no idea why that’s the case.
Can you give me example url you would be entering into search? I think I know what you mean already, but I wanna be 100% sure.

And what I get is this. https://files.catbox.moe/feyj3a.png
I’m even already subscribed to that community, and yet I still get that.
This was actually already on my planned features. I’ll bump up the priority.
Youre doing a great job, i have no notes currently. Sorry. Just keep up the great work
