I agree, but thatās kinda like saying that too many people read Doctor Seuss and that they should read Ulysses instead. Le Guin is far superior to Rowling, not just in ethics, but in literary ability, and thus also difficulty. But I do think everyone should read everything sheās written. In particular The Dispossessed, given that this is lemmy.

Torrenting her work keeps it in the zeitgeist, and implicitly encourages others to purchase her media. If we truly want to stop J.K. Rowling from amassing any more wealth, we have to stop consuming her media.

Sheās a billionaire. I doubt she even cares, but who knows. I think thereās more a psychological thing at play here. Itās clear a lot of people loved her work and feel hurt and betrayed that she became who she is. If she was just some other billionaire that was vocally anti-trans it wouldnāt be so painful. As a ācis maleā who was never into her books I canāt really relate, but thereā a clearly a large community of former fans who it has affected.
Iām not aware of any boycott of her work that had any meaningful effect. Howardās Legacy sold like fresh cookies.
