I linked to a post where the video does not play till you open the post.
Overall I started seeing this format be more common, so I recommend improving/ polishing it’s support to match other formats support.
Thank you for your hard work creating this beautiful Lemmy/ Piefed client.

This doesn’t appear to be an issue with m3u8 support but an issue with the underlying video format. The video plays fine on my device. What is likely happening is that the video decoders on your device does not support the format of the video. The file appears to be an H.264 video. Depending on the features of the video a higher version of Android may be required to play it.
That seems weird, I am on Android 14.
Huh that’s weird. One think you can try is to download the video to your device, then try to play the video with a built in video player. If it errors as well then that confirms it’s an OS issue.
How to download it?
I don’t think the built in player play m3u8.
It definitely does since I can view the video just fine. You can try downloading it in the browser as one option.
I think you misunderstood me completely.
When I try to play the video from the Dubai community feed:
This is what I get:
But when I open the post the video plays and the link also plays in the browser:
Oh I see. This is a bug with the post feed treating all videos as MP4s. Will fix in the next release.
Thank you.
