SIDE NOTE: Why does (seemingly) every single soul in the videos aggressively over-pet cats the way they do?

I’ve been blessed by having several cats across the years , and the one thing I learned is how to titrate ‘petting upon their mood,’ so to speak. In other words, start gently, read their room, and go from there. The point is that despite being smallish animals, cats are still Carnivorans, i.e. a class of apex predators. They’re not used to being petted very hard, even by their mothers.

Hahaha, but my one niece is an absolute master-class upon cat-petting. She uses a super-light touch and soothing words, and it sends kitties in to a trance-like state. I’ve seen it several times. It’s rather remarkable.

Now, could her same set of skills work upon the mighty panther-badass class of cats? Gotta admit, I’m a bit curious…
