I was just lamenting my cold weather gloves and thinking about how each type I try sucks in new and interesting ways and I thought-

Cyclists are probably glove experts. Anyone here willing to educate me on comfortable gloves that last and work with touch screens/etc? I don’t ride, so I won’t require big protection from road rash or extra padding/protection, so I might be asking in the wrong place.

Just a thought that occurred to me, a few thousand riders probably know where the good gloves are. Thanks in advance, or sorry in advance, whichever applies.

I don’t believe in gloves that are good and work well with touch screens.

What temps are you looking for? Waterproof? Gauntlet? Fingers vs mittens? Level of dexterity? Fabric? Work or casual–what application?

WOO those are better questions than I considered answers for.
I live in Wisconsin, it’s cold. They don’t need to be super warm- I have “hands might die” type gloves for the really bad shit- I’m looking for I guess driving, using a phone, super comfortable- looking for something that doesn’t feel like nothing but stitched seams on the inside. So the whole touch screen thing- I see videos of riders being able to use their phones but the last two “works with screens” pairs I bought- didn’t. AT ALL.

I have a pair of Fox Dirtpaws that I use with my MTB and work with touchscreens, and they would mostly fit the bill for what you are looking for. They won’t be super warm as they aren’t a winter glove, but they are comfortable and would probably do.

I have a great pair that work with my dual sport too, but you don’t want motorcycle gloves. They too aren’t always that warm either, they are expensive and usually because of the protection they are stiffer. Way overkill for what you want.

As a bonus tip, if you find hands getting cold in mountain bike gloves, or any other glove for that matter, you can wear rubber gloves underneath them and that really helps. If you have naturally sweaty hands it might not work as good though. For touchscreen use, just cut a bit off the palms of your fingertips, so the touch will still work through the gloves.

I have a pair of very comfy gloves i wear when it’s cold but their touchscreen functionality is… Finicky. They’re also not good for wet weather.

I got them as a gift from my dad and i quite like them. I would absolutely buy again.

Otherwise, you might also try cycling communities. (I actually wear these same gloves when cycling in the cold).

Side note: when i get home I’ll do a touchscreen test to see where i stand–it’s been a while since I’ve given it a good try.

Edit: mine appear to not be touchscreen compatible at all and they are the previous version.
        Good luck!
