Having virtually no experience with BSDs, I鈥檓 just going to accept this uncritically and use it as a mental framework to contextualize everything I will learn about BSDs in the future.

not trying to defend my nonsense but OS-tans predate Date Everything by decades. meme went viral ca. 2004 and was popular enough to break into the West. the concept is so old that the suffix -tan was still popular
