I don鈥檛 see how those landing barges would work. They鈥檙e giant targets and would only be safe from attack if the sea, air, and island were already subdued, but then you wouldn鈥檛 need them. Are they actually for post-invasion delivery of materials?
Think Normandy. Yes, alone they鈥檇 be huge targets, but when you鈥檝e also got ships shelling the coast and anti-air batteries, plus bombers bombing the anti-air and fighters and attack aircraft tying up Taiwan鈥檚 other air defenses, then you can land on the beach with marines and these craft.

I assume the plan is to throw dozens or hundreds of them at the coast in hope a few manage to get through. Mini normandy invasion effectively, although anti-ship weaponry has come a long way since then.
