Beautiful. I don鈥檛 know much about spiders, but it looks pretty large even for a rain spider. So I鈥檇 guess it鈥檚 a female.

Huntsman are one of the spiders that exhibit very little sexual dimorphism, so size isn鈥檛 a good indicter for sexing them.

I鈥檓 very much against this. The main goal of this community is to educate people about spiders. Posts with NSFW tags have considerable less reach (I myself filter them quite often), so that would be very counter productive towards that.

The server rules also do not require this (and if they would, I鈥檇 move the community).

I鈥檓 sympathetic for people with arachnophobia, but we can鈥檛 censor everything that some people might be afraid of. They are just pictures of animals.

Speaking as an arachnophobe who is about to filter this community鈥檚 posts from my feed, I strongly agree. Like you say, NSFW tags would make things muddier in terms of how different filtering mechanics interact. It wasn鈥檛 pleasant to see a big ole spider in my feed like this, but it鈥檚 trivially easy for me to opt out. It is much harder for people who like spiders to find spaces where they can enthusiastically opt in to hanging out with other spider nerds.

I鈥檓 someone who is just about to block this community because I鈥檓 not great with spiders, but I absolutely think you shouldn鈥檛 do NSFW tags. This was unpleasant for me to see, but I have the ability to trivially opt out of seeing this stuff. People who like spiders are weirdly marginalised, so it鈥檚 important for y鈥檃ll to have a space to just nerd out.

A鈥檌ght, I鈥檓ma head out. I鈥檓 sad that I can鈥檛 hang out with you delightful nerds, because I am also someone who enjoys learning deeply about stuff, and I find spiders to be objectively beautiful and awesome. Unfortunately, my subjective response is quite different.
