I have never once in my life encountered a dog that wasn鈥檛 fully on board with any type of exercise regime I took them along on. Ever. In fact every time I stopped, they got pissed off.
Ten thousand steps is the bare minimum we do. And I鈥檓 not the one enforcing it. Although I wouldn鈥檛 ask it from some kind of handbag fluff doggo.
I鈥檝e always been of the mind that the walk is for my dog - not for me. If he wants to stop and sniff something for a long time I let him because that鈥檚 what makes the walk enjoyable for him. I will concede though that it鈥檚 easy for me to adjust the total length of the walk based on how much stopping he does but that might not be the case for everyone.
