If you ever want to dip into a vast trove of songs, this guy’s stuff is it. Straight up, one of Australia’s Best Kept Musical Secrets and if you ever get a chance to see him live, do it. (I’ve done so twice) He’s got one of the tightest bands you’ll ever hear. Amazing songwriter, awesome human. One of my all-time faves.

I’ll always upvote Paul Kelly. I’m not sure I’d call him a ‘best kept secret’, though. He’s playing in Brisbane soon. I’ve always wanted to see him live, but it’s at the massive Entertainment Centre, so fuck that. Here’s a favourite that I used to play in my ukulele busking set, amongst others - Every Fucking City (His discography is a goldmine for buskers - three or four chords, a beautiful melody and a very human story - so good)
Correction: He played here in August. Where has the year gone?!
I’m in the States and know of no one else that listens to his music… UNTIL I introduce them to it.
