Honk, honk, honnnk!
So far Alexeyev has looked a decent bit worse than last game. I think that鈥檚 not cause for concern as long as we get out of this round - he barely got any games in the regular season, it doesn鈥檛 really surprise me that he鈥檒l have deficiencies that an opponent will spot on video. I expect a few more blunders over the next few games, but he鈥檚 hung in enough that I think he鈥檒l get it together reasonably quickly with the help of the coaching staff.
I haven鈥檛 noticed him playing poorly, but with Marty out, I鈥檓 not sure who else would fill that spot.
How鈥檚 about that Logan Thompson, tho. 馃敟
It was just a few mistakes in the first period. One of them was really close to burning us. But like I said, I think this is just what happens when a guy has barely played any games at all in the past year, I don鈥檛 think mistakes at this point should be taken as indicative of what to expect from him after he gets several games in, but I do think his good play overall is reason for optimism.
The whole team was bleeding rush chances in the third though, can鈥檛 expect LT to bail them out all the time. Caps were dominant for about fifteen minutes of the second period though with Montembeault keeping the habs in the game, so the third was something of a role-reversal.
I wasn鈥檛 able to check in on this post last night, but I did watch parts of the game. I fell asleep in the 3rd and woke up at the end.
It鈥檚 been a long week, we were at the game Monday, we get up very early for work, and last night we had to clean out our dead fridge and pick up the house for the cleaners coming today. I did get to relax and watch some of the game, but I鈥檓 not surprised I crashed before the end.
I see the Habs fans are blaming the loss on a missed cross check. I guess that鈥檚 the official excuse for this game.
Go Caps!
Result: Caps win, 3-1, taking a 2-0 lead in the series.
