Noob question, but are any major Lemmy instances blocked by lemmy.ml? I checked the blocklist at https://lemmy.ml/instances, but I can鈥檛 easily tell how big those instances are, or what they鈥檙e blocked for. I鈥檓 guessing we don鈥檛 federate with NSFW servers and spammers but are there any large communities I鈥檓 not seeing?

That鈥檚 basically it. We defederate from porn instances, instances overrun by spammers, and fascist instances like the late explodingheads.com and its successor hilariouschaos.com. The only large Lemmy instance we鈥檙e defederated from is lemmynsfw.com.
