[go: up one dir, main page]

This sub is a bit slow, so I thought I would post about something relevant to today.

I know the Grateful Dead is long gone, no debate there. But there is a pretty big event happening in SF. Money grab, nostalgia hook, good time for young ones who never had a chance… all sorts of opinions.

I have friends who wouldn’t miss it, and friends who would never be part of it.

I wouldn’t mind hearing the shows live, its a good time for a couch surf and see how it goes. Anyone want to keep a thread, post pics if you are there? I will drop some links if we have some for streaming. If there are any at all.

For those going, have a grateful day!

Same here — one old head I know tried to rope another old head friend of mine on a huge road trip, but my friend turns his nose up at events like this since Jerry died.

I see it as a send-up to something unique and wonderful that ended 30 years ago. I’m sure it’s fun for the artists involved to recreate the magic, and for some fans, it’s an excellent way to relive it. Let em do what they want, and I’ll keep my 80s-90s Dead playlist on rotation!

I’m one of those “no Jerry oh well its cool I guess” people too. I would possibly go if I lived less than 10 blocks away and it was free 😂

Seemed like a cool function for those going and the bands involved. I’m sure the fuzz will be out in force 🤮

So how do you line up your Playlist? Are you using MP3 players or streaming? Only curious because I was recently told I’m a weirdo for still using ipods, zune’s and SanDisk for my GD / JGB Playlists. I had no idea people looked down upon those things 🤣

      🤙

        Well, I use spotify lol

I mostly listen to albums and podcasts (when I’m not using it to check out bands for work), and hilariously, I think the 80s-90s Dead playlist is the only one I’ve ever made. Got tired of skipping around random albums for specific songs, with the added benefit of being able to download for in-flight use.

No shade at all for hanging on to what works for you! Your setup is probably more future-proof than mine, since you actually own your own copies of the songs.

I find myself caring less and less to attend stuff like this. Power to anyone who wants to tho! I just generally enjoy smaller shows these days. Still love to catch Melvin/JGB when I can, and the Rock Collection is incredible but I don’t even know if they play anymore.
