Yesterday I installed TLauncher on my Linux laptop. I have an official license, but MS pisses me off and I want to try the launcher. I remember today that something was wrong with this launcher. Am I fucked up? Should I reinstall Mint?
Try Prism Launcher. Afaik TLauncher is sketchy and not FOSS.
Thanks for the alternative! I鈥檒l check it. But my main concern is to know if my laptop is under malware risk now.
Prism is open-source. There鈥檚 virtually no risk.
Regarding if your laptop is under attack, just check your list of processes and see if you find any out of the ordinary processes running. Remove TLauncher before doing this experiment. AFAIK, you鈥檙e probably fine since malware on Linux is very very rare but better be safe than sorry.
Nice option, then. Yesterday I uninstalled it and checked the processes, and it seems all ok, but I鈥檒l let the laptop stay in quarantine a little bit more just in case. Thank you for the advice!
Prism Launcher flatpak is my recommendation.
MultMC is also very good.
Multimc is abandoned afaik - Prism is the actively maintained fork now
(MultiMC still works fine I think for vanilla but it鈥檚 a pain for managing fabric mods compared to prism)
It鈥檚 always interesting how you can just be going on living your life and then someone tells you that there鈥檚 this very popular fork of software you use that鈥檚 been around long enough for you to wonder how and why it you鈥檙e just finding out about it.
Its happened to me a lot.
It happens to the best of us.
MulticMC isn鈥檛 abandoned, though it doesn鈥檛 look like they鈥檙e doing lots of significant updates these days.
Try Prism Launcher (or Freesm Launcher, if you don鈥檛 want to use your M$ account yet; it is also more customizable, IIRC). It鈥檚 really powerful, yet lightweight.
