hello all, I want to get into CNCs and wanted a recommendation for a starter machine mainly for acrylic I don鈥檛 know much about CNCs but I am into 3D printing and 3D design so the software side shouldn鈥檛 be too challenging

I work out of my apartment and I think 300x300mm is a reasonable size in case the information is useful

any recommendations and advice are welcome

Most important question: what鈥檚 your budget? Such a machine can cost you between $300 and $30000. Second question: what do you already have? A good 3d printer, woodworking tools, a laptop to spare? And lastly: what are your skills? Would you be willing to build from scratch?

      • budget I鈥檇 say $800 as I want it to be an entry machine
      • I have 3D printers and can print ABS and ASA if I need to make something for the build, no woodworking tools nor experience
      • I consider myself knowledgeable in both software and hardware, be it flashing firmwares on MCUs or even modifying them if need be (I work a lot on raspberry pis and ESP32s) and I can solder simple parts like through hole pins and connectors and I can design my own 3D parts as well

if building from scratch means more value for money I鈥檇 do it and I started looking into printNC but I didn鈥檛 find the time to actually get to know the BOM
