Gimmick!, the classic platformer that originally came out in 1992, is making a comeback on the NES as part of a Collector鈥檚 Edition release by Limited Run Games. This exclusive item includes a uniquely branded green cartridge, poster, CD soundtrack, enamel pin, and numbered foil slipcover inside a deluxe foil box.
Originally released in Japan for the Famicom before a worldwide NES version followed a year later, Gimmick! is now being re-released to celebrate the platform鈥檚 enduring popularity. The Collector鈥檚 Edition release starts pre-ordering on January 24th and ends on February 23rd.
How big do you think the market is for retro-game physical releases?
Never heard of Gimmick. I鈥檓 not in the market for a cartridge, even though I DO still have my original NES from the 1980s.
But I DID look the game up on houtube, and found a gameplay video. I鈥檓 super confused on what is happening in the story. Kinda seems like a family bought their daughter ANOTHER stuffed animal. Then the stuffed animal got rid of the others鈥nd then hopped into a warp to another dimension鈥nd now it鈥檚 a platformer game. For some reason.
But the game looks really good.
Worldwide? This wasn鈥檛 released anywhere outside of Japan or Scandinavia.
