Hi everybody!
I鈥檝e just installed Kubuntu and I鈥檓 using Linux gui for the first time.
I have 2 4K screens, one horizontal and one vertical. With Windows I divide the horizontal one in 4 equal parts and the vertical in 3 parts so that all are almost 16:9 and each have it鈥檚 own taskbar that鈥檚 so useful to me because I know what I鈥檝e opened in every virtual screen and if in virtual screen there is Outlook, but I need to take in foreground Chrome that I know it鈥檚 there (but it鈥檚 also in other screens), I can click on Chrome on the virtual screen 1 taskbar. If there are no multiple taskbar, I would have to click on Chrome on the main taskbar and select which window I need (which can be problematic because not always it鈥檚 possible to see what鈥檚 going on in the small preview).
Is this or something similar possible with KDE plasma (I鈥檓 on 6.1.5).
Thanks!
So something like tiling, but with taskbars on each screen that only show the application/windows of that given screen?
I鈥檝e had a look at tiling and yes, that with taskbar for each screen. I鈥檝e been using that setup (with DisplayFusion) for years and now I can鈥檛 work without it!
for the taskbar part: you can just add an additional panel to your second screen, pull a window list on it that configure it so that it only shows windows of that active screen (I鈥檓 currently not on KDE so I can鈥檛 be of more assistance), kwin afaik has a tiling plugin/mode that you can activate.
The problem is that I need on for each virtual screen: 7, but thanks for the suggestion, I鈥檒l look into it
This is definitely not possible with base KDE. If you鈥檙e using x11, you might be able to follow https://askubuntu.com/questions/1398508/split-a-widescreen-monitor-in-two but it鈥檚 pretty fragile, and I鈥檓 not sure if KDE will respect those monitors.
Thanks, I鈥檒l look into it.
