Hello everyone!

I hope you all have been doing well this past year! I know I have kind of neglected /c/birding a little bit, but I am still here (somewhat, at any rate).

I have updated the rules a bit to make them a bit clearer and also because I have noticed that some people have (probably unknowingly) posted AI-generated content, so I have added a rule that explicitly prohibits the posting of such content. Please review the new rules and feel free to suggest something if you feel like I have missed something or worded something badly! :-)

I will also be adding another mod soon that I feel like should help keep /c/birding a bit more tidy in the future as I don鈥檛 really actively use Lemmy anymore. It鈥檚 someone I know who鈥檚 mostly active on Mastodon but he鈥檒l create an account on Lemmy and help with moderation here.

If you have any other questions, feel free to comment! I鈥檒l be monitoring this account a bit more closely again for the foreseeable future (at least until I鈥檝e added the new mod).

My bad on posting the AI mother bird video. In my defense, it was surprisingly lifelike. I鈥檝e gotten better at identifying fakes and more cautious before reposting them from Loops. Hopefully the legit bird loops are appreciated, though, if not I鈥檒l stop crossposting

Don鈥檛 worry about it! I think birdie made it clear in the rules that it鈥檚 become very difficult to tell if something is AI-generated or not and I certainly won鈥檛 swing the ban hammer immediately if someone posts something AI-generated. I had to look twice before realising what you posted was AI-generated too! It happens! v

You鈥檙e more than welcome to continue crossposting bird content from Loops, I鈥檓 looking forward to it!

Not sure why the only way to have someone appoint you as a mod is to post a comment in the community you want to become a mod of lol But hello!
