I did send a donation, but I want to make sure the people involved know I appreciates them.

I set up an instance and have been using it along with a couple friends. It鈥檚 fast, private and doesn鈥檛 have a bunch of algo bullshit wasting our time. I have my subs and I watch them, and then I go and touch grass because I鈥檓 not sitting there watching trash that is being pushed at me on the feed.

It鈥檚 like a breath of fresh air.

      Same, I setup insidious on my homelab last night and had it proxing publicly through webmin in pretty short order. Works pretty well but the 1080p limits on videos that are 4k in YouTube is disappointing

      Tried piped self hosting tonight to see if it solved the video quality problem but I never got past the alpine apache do ker container restarting endlessly complaining about my hostname

        i haven鈥檛 been trying to install piped, but in general your problem should be fixed by adding a -H [hostname] to your docker command to tel the container what hostname it has. you might need it to match whatever gets mounted at /etc/apache inside the container

    Has anyone tried to access #Piped from a public library? It鈥檚 a web-based front-end that requires no client-side installation, correct?

    I keep encountering libraries that block Invidious.

      It probably depends on if they鈥檝e blocked the URL. You can set up your own instance and there鈥檚 various public instances you can try if the main piped.Kavin.rocks one is blocked. It鈥檚 all browser based so it shouldn鈥檛 need any sort of clientside additions.

        Running my own instance is a non-starter because it鈥檚 my own bandwidth limitations that bring me to the library to begin with. I think kavin.rocks blocks the library. But other piped instances might be worth a look. Though if it works it probably won鈥檛 work for long before the library shuts them down too.
