Looking to start budgeting, I鈥檇 like to be able to use it on both android and linux and use syncthing to sync the file. Is there a good solution for that?

it鈥檇 be nice if I could easily divide my income into different buckets, add expenses to those buckets, and see how much is remaining in any given bucket for the current month. Less important but still nice would be an easy way to roll surplus into the same bucket for the next month

I鈥檝e just set up Actual Budget and that鈥檚 pretty much exactly how it works, you鈥檇 have to self host it though. It gives you access to a web interface you can access from any device, it鈥檚 a bit limited on mobile but does work for adding transactions and whatnot.
Failing that, I鈥檓 not familiar with one with a good mobile app, although I鈥檓 sure there are a few out there.

It says it supports local editing, is it possible to just skip their syncing entirely and use syncthing/a local file? I don鈥檛 have a server to host stuff myself, and don鈥檛 want to have to buy hosting either. Using a file just seems simpler and more reliable to me

Ah, so that鈥檚 what it鈥檚 based on. Seems the project鈥檚 GitHub has been pretty active so I鈥檓 glad I stumbled upon it when I did.

As for the domain, I didn鈥檛 realize the distinction but upon closer inspection it鈥檇 seem .com points to what used to be the original, commercial version? Thanks for pointing it out!
