Thanks, I didn’t need to know that.

Plot twist: Mr Web Dev is also in charge of the mailserver of this small company, and was the only one to actually see the invitation. The rest was misteriously undelivered. (source: stolen from a previous time I saw this meme)
zout@fedia.ioto Map Enthusiasts@sopuli.xyz•How much did house prices rise between 2019 and 2024?2·4 days agoNice map, but if I remember it correctly, housing prices in 2019 were the same as in 2008 before the crisis. Houses are still too expensive here in the Netherlands, but this reeks of cherry picking.
I like your thinking, but he’s never going to be tried in the Hague. The US has made clear it will invade the Netherlands if a US citizen is going on trial here, and besides, he’s either mentally unfit or he won’t live that long.
Definitely not a heart.
I’ve read the “1/3 couldn’t be bothered” sentence about 10 times last week, from different posters. So, no change coming I guess, just vote “not Trump”?

As if contemporary wars are the only ones that have had mass civilian casualties. Shit is horrific always.70·5 days agoWhen the Germans invaded my country in 1940, someone in the street I currently live in was standing behind the window, looking at the approaching soldiers. (I live real close to the border). The Germans, upon seeing him, shot him and he died right there. There’s no memorial, no history book where this guy is mentioned. I only know about this through oral history, my grandfather told my dad and he told me. History is always about the leaders and the armies, never about the civilians.
zout@fedia.ioto science@lemmy.world•Study: Eating fish with high mercury raises risk of diabetes8·5 days agoI don’t know how it is elsewhere, but in the Netherlands (as per EU regulation) the limits of dangerous substances in food are determined according to the ALARA principle. For fish, the limits are a lot higher because otherwise fish would be blacklisted, there’s always more toxic substances in fish because they are caught in open water. The same open water where chemical corporations dump their waste streams containg mercury, PFAs etc. So according to our government eggs from your own chickens aren’t healthy because of PFAS*, but fish containing more PFAS is.
*Commercial eggs are fine, since these chickens don’t get to eat insects, snails or worms from the ground. These animals absorb PFAS from the soil.
The fifth horseman was Kaos, but he left before they got famous.
I’d say he was white, but some people like to see “Arabs” (is there a better word maybe?) as non-white.
Not gonna lie and say that I’ve never made a racist joke, but these days not anymore. Too many right wingers who think you’re serious.

If you were a man living in America, people would call you a closeted homosexual, not bisexual. So I think it’s a combination of double standards and gatekeeping. My advice would be to block the negative people so you’ll never interact with them again.

I had a coworker like that, thank god he retired early.

zout@fedia.ioto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The president could die and the public be made to think he's alive through AI created speeches3·8 days agoI doubt it. The only reason for him to cooperate is because he can be elected for two more terms if he becomes president after January '27. Tbh, I think he’s as power hungry as Trump himself, and I wouldn’t bet against him going after Trump’s kids (with all their corruption) if he were to become president suddenly.
They could be a day apart in a leap year!
