Reiji’s response:
That was great!
Megane wo Hazushite - You and I Are Polar Opposites OP
Disqualified as it came out in 2026.
Forgot that Guild Receptionist was last year. Such a gorgeous OP.
This absolutely wins the thread for most delicious looking MV.
Edit: Nevermind!
As much as I love this song (and MIMI in general), it did come out in 2026, though it was January 2nd.
If it’s something like a video game, then probably not. If it is just promotional for the anime, then sure.
Just caught up on the past couple chapters and I really hope this senpai is not coming back. Hopefully he was just a vessel to try to help Aoba actually act on his feelings. I really don’t want somebody trying to interject themselves between these two.
This one is really unique. I hadn’t seen this one before, thanks for sharing.
Disclaimer: I read the manga through this point but haven’t watched the show.
The answer is resoundingly no. There was a period where it really feels like it was building to a climax and would have made for a decent conclusion (I think it was season 3, the movie arc). However, they quickly undid all the progress and the lead couple became even more infuriating. I ended up dropping the series shortly after what is depicted in this fifth season.
Just a heads up that the lemmyvision rules say that it has to have been released in 2025.
The version of this with the most views is sitting at ~45M views. I think that this is about as popular as I will go before disqualifying things as contravening the “international hit” rule. FYI to future nominations.
As many as you want, really. Just have each one be a separate comment. The top couple of vote getters from this thread will go to a finalist round.
Also be sure to check out !vocaloid@ani.social and the nomination thread they have going being run by @belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone
Please reply to this comment with any meta questions or rule clarifications and don’t make a new top-level comment.
With some rule clarification out of the way, I have a nomination:
Spoken For ft. Kasane Teto by Flavor Foley
It’s a catchy as hell song, but also a great mix of fun and fucked up. It also features both the SynthV and Utau versions of Teto.
Edit edit: Looks like there really isn’t anything to worry about. I suspect that your initial hunch is right that vocaloid is niche enough to not worry about it at all. I don’t plan on limiting it in any way for the anime community.
I think you’re probably right about vocaloid being niche enough to not worry about it. I was thinking more like 10 million views for my case. Looking over some of my favorite anisongs from last year, that would restrict about half of them. I’m not as plugged into the vocaloid scene, but that would eliminate stuff like Static and Birdbrain, while still allowing stuff like Flop Era or Magic Maid.
edit: I just asked for clarification in the lemmyvision thread.
Meta question:
I am planning on making a similar post for the !anime@ani.social community sometime this week. I wasn’t sure what kind of criteria I might want to include about the “international hit” rule. I was thinking about limiting nominations to songs with less than a set number of youtube views or something like that…but wasn’t really sure how to apply that. Wasn’t sure if you had any thoughts.
Thanks, missed that bit. I think I am going to keep it to just 2025 for anime because of the seasonal structure of the shows, but it makes sense to be more flexible in this case.
