Sometimes I think my cat is smart. For instance, he’s learned that if he jumps up and hangs on the handle, he can open doors. Pretty smart, yeah?

Then this morning he was yelling at me to feed him as usual, but there were ants by his food bowl. So I fed him and set his food bowl on the other side of the kitchen so I could deal with the ants. He watches me set down his bowl, walks over to where his food should be, and continues to yell as if he’s never been fed.

Dude is lucky we are funding his luxurious lifestyle; he would never make it in the wild. Also quite the handsome little dummy, though.

So much this! I was in therapy for depression. I had no idea that I had ADHD, just internalized the stuff about being lazy, not trying hard enough, etc. Then I eventually got a therapist who has ADHD. She started sprinkling in stories from her own life, and every time I was like “OMG, I relate so hard to that!” Eventually she was like, “Sooo have you considered…?”

  • Nice, Phantom of the Opera was the first musical I ever saw on Broadway! I was pretty obsessed with it as kid. Haha a looooot. Mostly DJs lately, but I’ve been to some great rock shows over the years, Flamings Lips most recently. I really enjoy finding good local music. I had several friends in bands where I used to live, so it was a lot of fun coming out and supporting them and discovering new people I wouldn’t have otherwise.

  • Also quite into music and hiking. I’m an elementary music teacher, and I really enjoy going to workshops and learning new things to bring into my classroom. I love going out for live music (just about any genre). I used to sing in a choir before I moved; might find a new one to join now that I’ve settled in here. I definitely need to find some new hiking and camping spots!

Traveling is a big passion of mine. With my summers off, I try to take a big trip every year. This year is going to be Scotland (maybe with some Ireland thrown in) and a side trip to Belgium for Tomorrowland. I went last year, thinking it would be a one time thing, but I had such an incredible time that I had to go back.

D&D is also a lot of fun. I have a group of friends that I play with online. We also have a group here, but scheduling with them has been especially difficult.

Hope you’re having a good day!

  • Just typed a whole fucking thing about how I’ve been away from these parts for a bit but am always down to meet new people etc etc, and then I accidentally backspaced out of it sooo anyway… my attention span is basically zero when it comes to group stuff but if you or anyone else wants to reach out, I’m very good at keeping up with one on one interactions, and I really do enjoy getting to know people. (General call, I moved across the country this past summer and am mostly good, but I definitely don’t have my core local peeps that I did, and I certainly wouldn’t mind some Internet friends.)

  • Agggh I feel so awkward when I try to talk to people who are genuinely trying I get to know me. What I sent:

“Hey again! I am often bad at communication when I’m sober. A bit about me - I’m kind of a hippy; you’ve probably picked up on that. 😂 Planned interactions stress me out a bit. I really just want to go with the flow. I would definitely like to hang out with you again, but more in if it happens, it happens kind of way. Not to say let’s not make plans or anything, but maybe those plans lead to sexy times, maybe they lead to dancing til we pass out, maybe they lead to cuddles. I just want to hang and see where things go, you know? Anyway, hope you’re having good weekend;”

I dunno. Sending that felt real, but fake too.
