  • This the one where Bart burns the tree and gifts while looking for his X-Mas gift?

Then they had nothing left and the news crew and Marge lost stuff at Jeopardy and all they had was this cloth or whatever and chased each other around at the end? Marge was like “we’re tearing each other apart!” and then steals it and runs.

  • Yeah, I admittedly haven’t finished the entire interview. I need to finish my workday first, so I’m only halfway through but Terry mentions earlier on about the term “toxic masculinity” and how it’s too easily thrown around and how some men grab ahold of it and say “what’s the use of it? … I’m just a man and now I’m being blamed?”. I’m paraphrasing but what he’s saying loosely is defining the terms and problems and being clear so we don’t get misconstrued.

  • I’m so blind when I was playing Control for hours and just couldn’t figure out how to advance. Turns out the way I was looking at the corridor made me blind to the exit on the left and just kept going to the exit on the right. Don’t get me wrong, almost no one has this issue, but I find a good way to get caught doing stupid things.

  • I’m bored so here’s an apropos about nothing that’s barely related to this.

I was an intern at a place and we had like a dozen or so of us that agreed to go to one of their place for drinks and videogames and hanging out. All the others ones bailed at the last minute except for myself another guy and a girl. We go to a liquor store and pick up some booze. The girl said she’s short on cash and asks if we can pick it up for her. We do and go back to that guy’s place.

We’re playing some Smash bros and after a few drinks she starts getting handsy with me. I’m like, um … she’s had too much to drink and I’ll just leave her on the couch alone to get some space. I say to the dude that it’s only our second day at this new job and I’m not looking for any drama and I’ll let her get some water and get back home. Shortly after I get some water in the kitchen … the dude says, “oh shit!” and he’s carrying her to the bathroom as fast as he can as she almost puked all over his rug. We spent the next hour or so fishing her hair out of the toilet she’s puking in, finish up a veggie pizza that she’s asked for, and kinda freaking out about how poorly she’s handling her booze. We try to get her home and she’s refusing to give us her address. I go into her purse and find her license and I’m kinda frozen … the guy says, “did you find it?” I said … “nope … but I did find out she’s not legal drinking age …”. We did eventually find her address and dropped her off with one of her housemates at the end of the night … but it was quite an ordeal.

Would have been nicer to have had a good event like this couple.

  • I won’t get into too much of a rant about this, but I’m in DevOps but I used to be a full-stack dev (as in doing nothing well).

My UI lead is just SO proud that he doesn’t need to write any code by hand and can show you how to do it too! Guess what he doesn’t do? Doesn’t fix up or speed up the website. We integrate with two of our sister products. One of them by sharing our UI packages through our private NPM repo and the other by iframe. Both are done so poorly at a fundamental level because our NPM packages are just SO poorly put together that if you spent any time looking at the output, you’ll see that it’s like typescript but not really. It’s not CJS nor does it really do ESM. Our sister websites needs to use another bundler to import these packages.

Our website is just slow too. Forget about deferred stuff or tighter bundles or reducing the page load times … just putting out more with AI is the key now. Let’s just forget about fundamentals.

  • He didn’t understand that he couldn’t make deals with individual countries in the EU in his first term and badgered Merkel about it repeatedly despite being told. So he doesn’t understand it, wilfully or otherwise … but he’s also surrounded himself with people that don’t understand it either.

People like Trump don’t use this type of talk to gain a better understanding or to communicate truth or ideas. They use it to get what they want, which is why his statements are jarring to people that pay any decent attention.

“The strait is fine” is to try to calm the stock market – but – “NATO needs to help the strait” is to get other people to fix his fuck up
