My own contacts agree morale is low, and not just for those in uniform. Civil service types are not happy either. Like, the ones that help ensure logistics flow, intelligence flows, provide depot MX support, etc. It is wide spread and coming on the heals of a massive exodus of expertise. I just had a former client reach out to me 4 weeks ago about a potential direct-hire job opportunity but I didn’t see it until last last week. When I replied back their response was, “yeah you don’t want this now. Things are not good around here.” IT’S THEIR BRANCH THEY ARE HIRING FOR! Think about that, they just said, effectively, ‘don’t come work for me, it isn’t worth it’
Well yeah, with THAT attitude!!!
True but, and hear me out, now it can be pronounced Slug-Butt-Que

And whoever wrote it knew what they were implying / trying to generate internet feelings. Because again, it would be epic bad if troops in training, this early in, were THAT cynical.
jumperalex@lemmy.worldto Political Memes@lemmy.world•Always remember what we're fighting for!English2·21 days agoNo. An honest assessment about just how bad it is if you’re troops are already THAT cynical before they even leave garrison and aren’t trying to hide it. I doubt it’s true though.

Also another thing that might have impacted my experience is I use Consent-O-Matic which helps eliminate most GDPR pop-ups which is half of what was annoying you; right? Which, FWIW, is why you get those cookie pop-ups most of the times. For right wrong or indifferent it’s an EU law and The Guardian follows it I guess. I mean sure it would be nice if they just didn’t try to collect shit cookies so they didn’t have to then ask you about it, but that’s what we got sooooo [sigh]
Worse… I don’t trust this administration to not first scan the social media trail of a POW before deciding how hard they will try to rescue them or negotiate for their release.
So glad I’m no longer in uniform. I hope we find the other F15E crew member quickly.
