I can name a few vulnerable minorities that have been abandoned by people who allowed republicans to take power, can you name any the democrats abandoned?

gwheel@lemmy.zipto Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Punish the Democrats, she saysEnglish1010·6 days agoI don’t think people are saying you personally are a bot, but you’re falling for narratives pushed by bots. By allowing republicans to win this past election, infinitely more harm has been caused than even most people’s worst predictions and absolutely zero harm has been prevented. USAID is gone which will lead to millions of deaths abroad, crackpots like RFK Jr have been legitimized causing deaths to diseases which were effectively eliminated, disaster relief is being denied to blue states, and of course Israel has more freedom than ever before to do whatever they want to the Palestinian people.
Has any harm been reduced by allowing the republican party to have power? Can you acknowledge the harm that has already been caused by allowing them to have power?

gwheel@lemmy.zipto Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Punish the Democrats, she saysEnglish46·6 days agoI would still rather vote for a party that doesn’t mind republicans, over the republicans themselves. Luckily I don’t have to make that choice because even if the democratic party doesn’t care about a single thing they say I’m pretty sure they do mind what affects them personally, like getting investigated for made up charges and having their security details taken away. The republican party clearly does mind the democratic party considering how hard they lean into voter suppression and pushing the ‘both sides are the same’ lie every election cycle.
gwheel@lemmy.zipto Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Punish the Democrats, she saysEnglish1012·6 days agoIf voting for democrats means I don’t mind a republican president, where does that put people who won’t vote against republicans?
I’m sure they are, but but I think their effort is targeted at standalone headsets and won’t translate much to wired headsets.
Wireless headsets do have fewer issues on Linux, from what I’ve read. A lot of the stuff I’m missing like passthrough and boundaries are probably handled by the headset instead of the pc.
In my experience steamvr works but is unstable and has really bad performance compared to windows. (Constant stuttering even in lighter games like pistol whip) Motion smoothing doesn’t work and it feels like there’s some input delay which is not acceptable for vr.
I’ve switched over to monado via envision, which loses the steamvr overlay and is very unpolished. (no camera passthrough and no boundary display, though both seem in development) Games play correctly with reasonable performance, which is what matters.
I wouldn’t recommend linux vr in general right now, if a friend wanted to try my headset I’d probably boot my windows partition. (Original htc vive with a 9070xt, so no excuse for steamvr’s linux performance)

I know Trump’s a big fan of them, but they have nothing to do with his election interference, free speech suppression, weaponized justice department, or directly putting federal money in his own pocket. Tariffs are how he’s raising prices and destroying the US’s international relationships and standing, but he has plenty of other options for that.

gwheel@lemmy.zipto Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•Republicans are honest fascists. Democrats are fascists in disguise.English31·5 months ago“Why do I criticize Democrats” “…because both parties are terrible in every way, but the dems are terrible in a bonus way too.” I don’t see how that first bit changes the meaning of the rest.
Do you consider the two parties to be equally bad, or do you consider one to be worse than the other?
gwheel@lemmy.zipto Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•Republicans are honest fascists. Democrats are fascists in disguise.English21·5 months agoSo you agree with the statement? Or are you saying the dems are meaningfully worse so people should participate in opposition to them?
gwheel@lemmy.zipto Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•Republicans are honest fascists. Democrats are fascists in disguise.English31·5 months agoCould you explain the context? I am clearly missing something, because most of what I see here reads like dems are the greater threat.
Here’s an example: “They are not equally bad, the side that poses as an ally and a protector of is the marginalized while actively causing them harm is by far worse.”
So it is worth letting the bad things happen now because they probably would have happened anyway a decade from now? And winning an election against the republicans would have convinced democrats to adopt the republican mindset, which won’t happen after that mindset is proven to win elections?
