Oh, and I just head about the fork that reached 1.0 recently. Not that I use it or Zed in the first place, but I’m glad people have options to escape enshittification!

g5pw@feddit.itto Linux Phones@lemmy.ca•Pocketblue Brings Fedora Atomic Linux to Mobile DevicesEnglish1·2 months agoJust tried it on my OnePlus 6T! Having rpm-ostree is a good idea IMO. Some observations:
- boot is a bit clunky (feels weird to see GRUB on a phone)
- out of the box experience was a bit lacking: systemd service that installed some default apps keep failing because the GPG keys for flathub were missing.
- some apps are flagged as non compatible with phone layout, but they actually work well!
Everything else looks similar to postmarketOS!
Maybe offpunk could fit? I’ve never used it but I read the blog post about it
Same! I even manage three different configs with the same flake!
g5pw@feddit.itto Ask Electronics@discuss.tchncs.de•Lithium pouch cell protection circuit?English1·5 months agoUh that is unfortunate :/ battery protection circuits do not usually care about capacity directly, but just about max currents (which is usually related to capacity), so… unless you need a lot of current, get a 2A limiter and you should be good.
Try not to short anything else, like the battery terminals though! It may weld stuff into a continuous short and start a fire.

g5pw@feddit.itto Ask Electronics@discuss.tchncs.de•Lithium pouch cell protection circuit?English4·5 months agoThat looks like a battery protection PCB, yeah. It usually does three things:
- over voltage protection
- undervoltage protection
- overcurrent protection
- reverse polarity protection
Bypassing it would be a bad idea, but it’s also pretty rare they fail. Maybe it’s just in undervoltage protection mode. Try to hook up your variable power supply with 4.2V and a 50-100mA current limit to the battery tabs (check polarity!) and see if the cell takes current. Above 3.6V the battery protection should lift and you should see voltage on the battery output terminals.
By the way take a look at dockform for docker deploys, it’s something I’m keeping an eye on since I use sops to encrypt secrets.
It’s the other way around! Bistromath is obviously the more advanced metod of dining/transportation :D
Last I heard he was in the space-time continuum, and may or may not be missing a couch…
g5pw@feddit.itto Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening to? August 123·8 months agoBack to classics: I’m listening to “The moon is a harsh mistress” by Heinlein. After that I’ll go back to the Terry Pratchett saga, which definitely scratches the Douglas Adams itch

g5pw@feddit.itto Ask Electronics@discuss.tchncs.de•Does anybody recognize this LCD display FPC and can point me to a datasheet? (Or at least a more searchable model number)English4·11 months agoWith displays like these, it’s either parallel or SPI. Try to find a chip in the kapton circuit, that is the actual display driver.
Try to find out the FPC pinout, there should be two pins for backlight, find out of there’s any GND, etc… my gut says this is some kind of SPI based controller, 24 pins is too little for a parallel one.
The “I know a little german” joke kills me every time :D
Wow, this looks really nice! I would pair it with a cool dungeon level underneath ☺️
I settled on OpenProvider.com (Netherlands). If you have lots of domains you can get reseller access and buy domains at no markup, basically.
The only annoying thing is that you need to add money to the account instead of simply paying for the domains.

It’s not like this is an oopsie bug, this is a major vuln knowingly indroduced by the dev, and their response is somewhat shocking.
I recommend plenty of alpha/beta software to people, of course with the disclaimer that it’s not done yet, but sure, feel free to not trust me at all, stranger :)
For the record, I did not encounter major bugs in my ~1 month of usage.
I have a macropad8, it’s nothing special, it works, the provided “case” is somewhat lacking (just two sheets of lasered acrylic with spacers), but there are 3d models for better ones online. I appreciate the fact that everything they do is released as open hardware though!
