I assume you’re not serious, but in case you are: President doesn’t have that much power. Especially not if Congress and SCOTUS and the oligarchs aren’t all behind him.

What we need is many progressives running for smaller offices and getting experience to run for larger offices. We need 10,000 AOCs and the like.

Well, considering that Trump is a small part of the problem, which includes:

• Oligarchs heavily funding politics, corrupting the entire system and most (but not all) politicians
• Decades now of propaganda supporting extremist right-wing propaganda and pushing centre-right propaganda
• Control of SCOTUS
• Republican party is essentially fascist
• Large support base thanks to the propaganda

When Trump goes, all of those problems remain. And the people who “woke up” to the problem of Trump will go to sleep again, and the number of people caring to resist fascist will drop again.

So we’re basically fucked.

The peaceful solution:

• Continue to talk online and convince people of the problems, which should help encourage:
• Protests, which by themsevles accomplish little - except to show how many of us are willing to stand up, and how many realize the problems exist, and also the online talk helps encourage:
• People need to run for office who are progressives - little offices, so they can build up to larger offices. We need more AOC and other similar types.
• We need to increase the protests and demand change. We need to shut down the nation and force change. Which means we need a plan / demands, and people to run for office.

The less peaceful solution:

• Well, I won’t go into details. I don’t like it because it means even more people die, and as someone who believes this life is all we have and is therefore precious, I’d prefer not to see this happen.
• I will suggest that guillotines are not a bad place to start, though.

(Then again, how many are dying from fascist policies already? Healthcare, poverty, violence… thanks to Republican making things worse)

Yeah, except for all the “both sides” and “Democratic genocide” ones that loudly proclaim that Harris would have been no better than Trump. And all the ones who are like “Dems do nothing, no reason to vote for them”. There’s a LOT of those.

We need to start spreading the word to our less-techie friends and family: Ignoring those warnings for some random site might be fine if you’re not entering in username/password used anywhere else (because a lot of people do reuse passwords)… but especially if they pop up on well-known sites, like… google, microsoft, your bank, et cetera - in those cases, do NOT click through. At least ask your techie friends about it.

That’s probably good enough for this, if they’ll actually listen. So at least there’s some potential good news.

Well, this caused me to learn something today. One of my favorite musicals is Avenue Q, which has an entire song about a girlfriend who supposedly lives in Canada. And I keep seeing this reference - but I keep thinking there is NO WAY that THIS many people know about Avenue Q (which is a pity).

And sure enough, TIL that this trope dates back to at least the 70s and is references in multiple TV shows and movies and such.

So Avenue Q was using an existing thing. Ah, well.

At least I know not to make Avenue Q references since there’s little chance they’ll be gotten. lol

“Broke containment” to me means two things:

1. Doing things against the safeguards
2. Doing things externally - like sending that email

The former is a big nothing. They just need to obviously build stronger safeguards. That’s what they’ll do and eventually release it, or other models or whatever.

The latter is also a big nothing because people who know nothing about tech will say “OH SHIT IT ESCAPED” but it requires running on large hardware, it can’t “get into the internet” like those people might think, and if it’s doing things you don’t want on the internet, you just remove its access to the internet.

So in both cases, the “containment” issue is really not a big deal.

I agree with those who basically say this is an attempted ad trying to sell it as super-capable-oh-shit-amazing.

While this is generally a possibility, I think in this case it’s more likely that they have heard the rumbling from the masses about nukes and really didn’t mean to imply them - they were talking about taking out bridges and power plants, which would severely disable Iran, so I think that’s what Trump meant about the civilisation thing.

But I am not 100%, which I think is the point - we’re all not quite ready to believe Trump wouldn’t throw nukes… so we’re certainly not buffoons to worry.
