Me too! I had only scorn for the initial comment, but this response was perfect
I can also confirm. I write software for a living. A hammer is a must-have.
I love how the post never mentions the country, but everyone just knows.

I grew up with FF7 so I’m a bit biased there, but that was instantly recognizable to me.
Good job!
Definitely FF7. It’s the hero’s Buster Sword and the villain’s Masamune.
The holes in the Buster Sword are Materia slots, some kind of gems that grant magical powers when equipped.

blx@lemmy.zipto Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Once again, looking for PS2 game suggestions!2·6 months agoSome arcade-y faves of mine:
Gradius V: a classic horizontal scrolling shooter, it gets hard quickly! (This is the game series the Konami code originates from)
Neo Contra: a twin-stick shooter inspired by B-movies, also kinda hard, and incidentally also a series that made the Konami code famous.
The Red Star: a bit obscure I think. It’s a twin-stick with both shooting and melee. I like the girl’s fast melee moves a lot, you need to use combos to juggle your enemies. I think this one got a bad reception because it arrived quite late in the life of the PS2 and was a bit underwhelming graphically.

blx@lemmy.zipto Linux@programming.dev•7 years later, Valve's Proton has been an incredible game-changer for Linux8·8 months agoI made the switch a few months ago with a Win backup drive just in case. It sadly saved my bacon on a couple occasions. Still, I (mostly) use Arch, btw.
Relic released the Definitive Edition of Dawn of War last week. It ran with no issues until I started playing with a friend who’s on Windows. Then we encountered frequent game-breaking desync issues specific to Linux/Win crossplay. Not even a week after release, the devs pushed a hotfix for this (among other things).
It’s a good sign that gamedevs have started taking Linux compatibility seriously, and that makes me very happy!

This is a blatant hallucination, and until LLMs can express the simple fact that their data set is not sufficient, any output should be treated as pure fiction.
I read the first book, and like OP found the characters bland and the writing boring. I reckon this is due to the way the original is translated into English. The style may be more appealing to a chinese audience. I guess there are cultural differences that transpire in one’s language and prose.
Unlike OP however, I found the story compelling enough to finish the first book. I struggled a lot more with the second one, until my dog did me a favor and decided to shred it to pieces while I was away =D
I did enjoy the Netflix show though, and I’ll happily watch season 2.
That’s a pretty dumb reason, but that’s what’s been putting me off for so long. Oh well, I’m a konvert now…
