You’re not wrong. Male CEOs do not get asked how they balance work with fatherhood.

The system is self-perpetuating.

Nobody knows the lengths a cult will go to better than someone who has just escaped.
If I’m being extra generous, I could say maybe she knows what happens to representatives who don’t toe the party line, so she stepped down to avoid cuts to her constituents’ services. But that might be giving her too much credit.
I’m sure Schumer has drafted a strongly-worded letter.
If anyone can fuck up the response to this, it’s the Dems.
There does seem to be a small contingent of Democratic senators who are looking to remove Schumer from his leadership role. I hope they succeed.

I remember when we were sure that W would go down in the history books as the dumbest President of the US. The man owes Trump some serious gratitude for taking over that position and leaving a significant possibility that someone even worse will come along later.
It should go without saying that making the comparison is not an automatic endorsement. Unfortunately, it’s hard to have a real conversation in good faith on a platform like this one. You’ll inevitably fail some random person’s very specific purity test.
“I was the turkey all along” is part of the vernacular in our house.

Starting out in debt kind of sucks, but it’s usually possible to pay off your first mortgage in a week. I wish the real world were even remotely like that.

I’d take it.

That, and numerology is completely bankrupt. You can manipulate almost anything to fit a specific numeric scheme if you want to.
I really wish Republicans would draw a line literally anywhere. But they keep explaining away every unhinged thing their leader says.
If a Democratic president said any of these things, Fox News would initiate pearl-clutching immediately, and Republican lawmakers would start impeachment proceedings the next day.

Many states adopted their own standards instead of the Common Core, likely because of the political backlash. Most that I’ve seen are 90% CC with some state-specific requirements for things like history.
You are correct.

It’s not diet alone. There are environmental and lifestyle factors as well.
Chemicals that have been outlawed in the EU because they mess with our endocrine systems are still heavily used in the US. Businesses have better representation in Congress than citizens do, so commercial production has far fewer environmental and health regulations in the US.
Walkable cities/towns are rare in the US. Zoning laws in many places put residential properties far away from things like grocery stores and workplaces. The norm for most people is driving (or maybe public transportation if you live in a city that’s big enough to support it).

I think we’re talking past each other here.
The original post is talking about people with “a systemized non-scientific theory of anatomy and nutrition.”
The comment that we’re responding to says,
Anyone talking about “toxins” and “waste products” as if they’re ‘stuck’ in your body is either very ignorant, or trying to sell you snake oil. Probably both."
The people who blog about “toxins,” as a generalized word without a specific meaning that could reasonably be replaced with “evil ghosts” in a sentence, are not interested in listening to doctors or scientists. They are “health” influencers on par with the current US secretary of Health and Human Services. I specifically called them “MAHA moms” in my previous comment for this reason.
I would hope that all reasonably educated people recognize that there are actual toxic substances that our bodies absorb that are harmful to us. But anyone who is identifying a specific toxin, much less a medically appropriate treatment plan for removing it, is leagues away from the snake-oil peddlers this post is talking about.
If you have not encountered these charlatans, more power to you. They used to be relegated to specific corners of the internet, but they’re becoming more mainstream with help from powerful figures in Washington.
I, unfortunately, had a loved one who followed some of these influencers with deadly effects. It turns out that juice cleanses and energy healing can’t cure cancer.
When I was a kid, my best friend’s dad liked to cite those verses when we made comments about his receding hairline.
