Oppos, Xiaomi, and all the sub brands of the bbk group (vivo, realme, etc) come with so much bloatware that they are forced to include an aggressive task killer and Memory cleaner to make it work properly

From the user manual: it is so easy, in case of a fire, just calmly remove all your stuff from the door pocket, then use nails to remove the rubbery mat on the bottom of that, then take out a plastic cover, there’s a cable, pull that cable. So easy and totally intuitive when someone is panicking after an accident! /s
Ps: I wonder what the user manual means with that “if equipped” part. Some models don’t actually have the emergency unlock under the mat?
IMHO if they just give them bibi, then they will reopen it

It would be infinitely funny if someone else, after meeting with JD Vance, would die the day after Easter 2026 too.
Right, I asked the source of those figures (I didn’t give the source in context, it just did a web search) and I got this: https://read.engineerscodex.com/p/diving-into-claude-codes-source-code
I did not fully understand what he meant in the toot so I asked an explanation directly to the source
Surprised it described itself as a war crime and didn’t try to justify that

My server with much newer components does like 5 fps in encoding av1

There is the need of something that enforces an IP address blocklist at the router level like opnsense
Fun fact: Microsoft edge for Linux has a copilot button. But they forgot to implement it, so it just takes space on the menu bar (cannot be removed)
Wispy2891@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Adobe Creative Cloud rewrote hosts file to detect installed appEnglish10·7 days agoRight, it won’t ask the DNS server to resolve it, the solution requires a much more expensive blocking on firewall

This is “open” source and it was the main reason it got forked (lots of proprietary bits included as binary, impossible to send a PR, obfuscated code)
It’s “open” exclusively for marketing “our product is better because it’s open source” and mostly because in this way they can use GPL 3 code for libraries without paying for a different license
Fuck them

Wispy2891@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Here's the severance package Oracle offered laid-off US employeesEnglish20·7 days agoIn Italy if you get fired (not if you quit voluntarily) it’s mandatory by law to get 75% of salary for 104 weeks (but from the six month it will get reduced by a 3% monthly) plus the severance package is at least 6.9% of the yearly gross salary multiplied by the number of years worked there.
On top of that, most union contracts (97% of workers in the country) increase that amount of money that the company has to pay.
Finally, it’s a bureaucratic mess. You can’t just fire employees with an email sent Friday afternoon and expect to get the offices empty on Monday. In order to fire more than 5 employees over 120 days the company has to get agreement with unions (money incentive to resign; early retirement; higher and/or longer severance pay) and if it’s doesn’t get an agreement within 45 days it will need to get an agreement with the government (another 30 days) where need to pay at least a 5850 euro tax for each fired employee. So from the cuts announcement, workers have at least 2 months of full pay and full work.
The only way to fire employees “American style”, “from today you’re unemployed” in Italy it’s bankruptcy (chapter 7) but proceeds from the liquidation Will be used to pay
