Love that I am getting my breaking news through the filter of memes, it really takes the edge off the madness.

My previous boss (the CIO) began using AI back in May of last year in a desperate attempt to not get fired. He had spearheaded a shift to a SaaS product that ended up costing us 200x more than our in house solution and was in hot water for that. Additionally a new COO was about to be hired who was previously a CIO and might figure out that he didn’t really know anything.

Since he had basically bullshitted his way into the position I think he turned to a bullshit engine to assist him in saving himself. Ultimately his efforts were futile and he was let go.

The new COO appears to be just as enthralled to AI… She was in my office the other day asking me questions about our MDM, feeding my answers into copilot, and then asking my follow up questions that it gave her.

I inherited them from the previous IT crew at work. Basically they’ve been sitting there since before I started.

I also have about 100 HP laptops that need to be gotten rid of, G5s and G6s.

I’ll try to avoid doing that. Technically it’s all work property, but I think I can work something out.

That seems unusual. The Ubuntu laptop I use for imaging laptops can just connect to the wifi with the gui.

Try booting up off of the usb you made for Ubuntu and see if you can just connect with the gui without installing.

If that doesn’t work I would make a boot usb of another distro and just try to join the wifi without installing it.

The first one checks to see if you configured something funkily. The second checks to see if the distro is the issue.

I’m not all that good with this sort of stuff, but the first thing I would try would be to boot it with another distro just to see if it can find networks that way.

How did you connect for the first time if it can’t find networks?
