Oh man both my brain and my browser are broken, neither of us could find the mention of Alberta. But you’re right 😅

I want our public servants paid well enough that they avoid corruption. How well does it work? Better than Mexico, but I’m not sure if it’s better than the US.
We need more ways to strengthen our democracy by holding our politicians accountable.

Additional ideas: I happened to be on Synology and wanted to download google takeout files directly from Google to the nas. So I ran an instance of chromium in docker and used that browser to download the 50gb takeout files directly to the nas.
Take note of the size of your immich library before and after you import with immich go, and how big the takeout files are before using immich go. If you miss a few files you’ll know because of the size discrepancy.

For the 25 years I’ve been using desktops I’ve only bought 3 monitors, I can’t say that about the rest of my computer hardware.
Kyle@lemmy.cato Technology@lemmy.world•Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAMEnglish1·4 months agoI hear you there. Almost every meeting presentation room I use still requires my usb-c to vga adapter and I just have to live with it. It’s the natural state of such places I think. It feels so amazing when I can plug directly into my laptop without an adapter. And yea I agree, they are a headache.
Kyle@lemmy.cato Technology@lemmy.world•Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAMEnglish189·4 months agoThis seems like a non issue dramatised for headlines, they are phasing out outdated sata connection to only favour current m.2.
It’s like gpu and motherboard manufacturers announcing they are no longer including VGA ports in favour of DVI display port and HDMI. I don’t think that was a bad thing.
I’m sure some people who are lucky enough to have hardware that still requires SATA want to keep upgrading to new SATA devices but it’s been enough time. I’m ok with just m.2 now.

If there was such a law in Canada it wouldn’t change anything because Pierre Pollieve has shown you don’t have to be Trump to be a lot like him. And he speaks French just fine.

We need major mental health support in this country at all stages, preventative, ongoing care and emergency help.
I’ve always thought that police should be paired with mental health professionals for these calls. But a seperate agency is an interesting idea.

Why does Canada drop the Chinese tarrifs but demand certain assembly and manufacturing of Chinese vehicles happen in Canada?
Sounds like a win win, but they are too stuck on the idea they should only manufacture cars from incumbent companies that are stuck in the past. Canada has significant geological resources like lithium and rare earth metals is an even better reason to be excited about EV production in Canada.

They can embrace risky content.
Given CBS cancelled their top show, and is owned by Paramount, maybe this is the last show season that will finally set them free 😂
