yea lol I get it it’s also a pastime of me and a friend, transliterating idioms like this. It was all started by his dad one day who explained something convoluted and finished with “…t’attrapes ma dérive ?” = you catch my drift ? We have been idiom-battling ever since, coming up with more and more absurd translations. I don’t get the fat cherry though, do you mind explaining ?

Hadriscus@jlai.luto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a band or musician that you found out too late that they were actually really awesome?3·17 hours agoToots Hibbert (and the Maytals). He died in 2020. I would never have been able to enjoy his music before then anyway so… there’s always the recordings. My morning playlist is almost all Toots
- Get up stand up
- Spiritual healing
- Reggae got soul
- Beautiful woman
- Broadway jungle
- etc…
that’s one neat shittyfact
- un fermier is the masculine form, une fermière is the feminine form
- pamplemousse with no u in third position
- alpinisme with an l in second position as in alps
Hadriscus@jlai.luto Games@lemmy.world•Does the engine a game uses factor into your decision to buy it or not?English61·23 hours agoFrom a political standpoint, yes, it does, to an extent. I strive to use free software, but most games are made using proprietary engines, which is just a consequence of the state of that industry. Blender changed the landscape of animation production, there is no reason Godot can’t do the same for game development.
A second reason would be the concentration of wealth and power we see in big game engine developers such as Unity and Unreal. Millionaire (billionaire?) CEOs, anti-consumer terms of use, etc. These are good reasons to lobby in favor of FOSS alternatives, and to pirate games published by dipshits (such as, I don’t know, Krafton).
Thank you, I do my best to output credible scenarios. Are you interested in a little correction of your phrase, or are its quirks part of the memory and the charm ?

What a shame, when there’s so many opportunities for an opening pun relating to “her bioreactor” or “engaging in heat dissipation”…
Talk about low hanging fruit…

Nice, that phrase will definitely save your life the day you get arrested for littering citrus sheddings but the world at large happens to be vitamin-C deficient after climate change and water levels rising have pushed what remains of humanity to the heights of major mountain ranges where citrus trees can’t naturally grow and they need a specialist with experience both in pamplemousse farming and alpinism to save our kind
