Griffus@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you keep in your pockets and which pocket do you keep them in?3·4 days agoPhone in right back pocket or inner jacket pocket. Left front pocket, snus, if I don’t have a jacket left pocket for it. Right front pocket, apartment keys and lip balm. Earplugs in right jacket pocket. And if I’m going for a breakfast or lunch at a café, reading pad in inner left pocket.
What? Never had it growing up, so didn’t try it before I moved down south to study. Love it. And still fascinated is all the names for it.
That’s not too bad! In Norway it is between £2-3. But most bus cards have been lowered from April, so there are some light points around.
“Ambulance fees” are the most dystopian words I’ve seen in a long time.
Haven’t used bills since my last grand parent died years ago.

Griffus@lemmy.zipto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL chicken sold in supermarkets are often "plumped" with a salt water solution to increase sell weight, making up as much as 30% of the total weight, and can contain up to 500mg of sodium per servingEnglish15·10 days agoIn Norway, chicken without added salt and water has become the norm after producers were made to inform how much of each is added. Also, one of the triopol groceries here has wholly switched from Ross chickens, so that is a good trend for animal welfare.

Heinz is better than Idun, which is sad, since that means we don’t have a great European alternative easily available around me in Norway. Even though US Heinz is own by German Kraft.

You are right, it is a US specific distinction, hence why I needed to ask. In Norway and Europe we have charitable organisations, US nonprofit, and interest organisations, US not-for-profit, The difference between them are somewhat similar, but less formalised here.
Griffus@lemmy.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do boys who had affectionate mothers growing up become more "gentle"?4·12 days agoMy mother was in no way, shape or form an affectionate mother for me growing up. But I have several times in my life heard that I am unusually calm, patient and pleasant to be with, so I guess one can avoid being shaped too much of ones upbringing if life is humbling enough in other ways.
Griffus@lemmy.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do you fight abandonment issues when people keep abandoning you3·12 days agoIt is a process, but try to learn to be happy with having yourself and what you have for yourself, and nothing more. Then everything is good on your baseline living. Any addition to that is a bonus, and if that bonus disappears, the baseline is still something you are happy with.
Griffus@lemmy.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a FOSS version of Waze or Google Maps?1·12 days agoHonest question; what is the difference between a nonprofit and a not-for-profit org?
For this reason, in Norway, prices are always including VAT, but on the receipt it is highlighted what part of the price is product/service and what is VAT, so companies can get the VAT refunded.
