Flight attendants have been doing unpaid work for far too long.
It’s even worse than that. The original days of cable were ad free! That was the whole point! You got away from ads on broadcast tv by signing up for cable. That didn’t last long, of course, so it’s not surprising to see history repeat itself.
This is actually a pretty decent idea considering what’s coming now with AI video. I have no idea if it could be implemented, or if media even cares anymore, but I sure would appreciate it.

I get where you’re coming from, and I tried this. The point is to get away from windows, and if the main program I use my computer for lacks essential features that affect my work, then I can’t switch.
Honestly, calling people lazy without context just makes you another Linux bro and doesn’t help bring people over.
The AAC issue and working directly from a NAS. It’s adding a lot to the workload to work around AAC. NAS could be a me issue, but other programs have no issue with accessing it and working directly from it.
Blackmagic please, for the benefit of all editors, make DaVinci Resolve work properly on Linux. I’d switch tomorrow.

DOPdan@lemmy.worldto Buy Canadian@lemmy.ca•My made in Canada razor came. It's an investment, but can finally get away from those expensive American-made blades.4·1 year agoI switched to a Henson about a year ago and the only time I’ve cut myself is when I’ve used a dull blade. I switch it out every 4th shave or so, but the blades are pennies each. 100 for $15 for the Astras. I used to cut myself way more with other cartridge razors.

You have to keep in mind that the tech at the time was pretty revolutionary, but dated now. The e-ink display was legible in the brightest daylight and it had a battery life of 7-10 days depending on the model. I liked the minimalist styling of it, and hope they continue with a future model.
I’ve always been curious to know how it would have evolved if it hadn’t been killed off. A newer version would hopefully take advantage of color e-ink displays and have some of the features current smart watches have. But honestly, they could make the Pebble Steel again with updated parts and I’d buy it in a second.
I can only hope this new open source project takes off. It was a great watch.

Our taxes pay for public healthcare and should not be subsidizing the private sector. This will also free up more funds to pay our healthcare professionals what they’re worth, which stops the exodus to the private sector.
DOPdan@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those of you who have cut out family members, how are you doing now?24·3 years agoCut out my mother a few years ago and I’m doing pretty great. No more anxiety at family gatherings or random guilt tripping phone calls. It’s amazing the behavior you recognize when you’re no longer subject to it.
She was/is very manipulative and I’m hoping that my siblings eventually figure it out too. Two of them are firmly on her side while the other 2 remain neutral. I’ve explained to them my situation and they’re all old enough to do with that information as they will.
There’s no chance for reconciliation and I’m ok with that. This is the most I’ve been at peace in my life, so no regrets.
So it’s treason then?
