  • Don’t intend to dogpile I just must share this information to the people

Ontario is warehouseland. Without warehouses, there is nothing. It is the central logistics point for the entire West coast and Southwest. Ships come into Long Beach, goods go into these warehouses, and get in trucks to go across America. It is by the port (relatively) but land is cheaper than in LA.

This warehouse was probably the only supplier of those Kimberly Clark products for this entire side of the country. I used to work that account.

Fuck insurance that’s not even an afterthought right now. The losses from stretched supply chains and customers moving to competitors in desperation are going to hurt for years.

Where are those containers from overseas going to get loaded? Where are those trucks going to pick up product? Where is every business in 600 miles going to get their paper towels, toilet paper, and other paper products?

Where and when are they even going to open a replacement DC?

This is an unmitigated disaster for KC.

  • The US is much like Sparta in its society, rise, and even the particular way it is declining.

It would probably be a great effort post if I was more well-read.

Spartans, throughout their entire span of civilization, believed they were an invading force with a divine right to the land and to enslave its people. It only ever allied with its peers in convenience and to its own benefit, betraying them at all turns.

Their violent and psychopathic society, even by the standards of the time, resulted in them being unable to maintain any major land expansion, enrich their civilization, or even grow their population.

The Spartans remained insular, shrinking and shrinking until they were a small village sitting around a campfire, boldly challenging Alexander to come and conquer them.

In reality, Sparta was not worth the food it would take to march there.

To the last Spartan, their society ended with their eyes shut and ears covered, in denial as the world moved on. Wholly believing to the very end that they were the ordained masters of Greece, the peak of civilization.

In the same way, America is meeting its violent end, its people convinced to the last that they are the shining city on the hill.

Chinas victory has already occurred. The corpse of America just hasn’t realized it yet.

  • Anyone that can lose their house, never owned it in the first place. (Clarify: talking about mortgages, not property taxes which are no joke either)

That’s the great millennial scam, and the materialist last gasp of capital. Go in debt to become an engineer. Go in debt to own a car. Go in debt to buy a home. Go in debt to get a medical procedure.

And then they have the gall to talk shit about China’s home ownership process.

All of this, things that people didn’t go in debt for just one generation ago. No wonder society has just continued to fall apart since this scam has been realized. All of this, just to keep the facade of capitalisms victory running just a few more years.

    Death to America.

  • I’m gonna be honest it sounds like you’re making this more difficult than it has to be.

These are your coworkers, not your direct reports? Then let them wallow in their shit. You’re not responsible for them.

Management is doing things, and you’re not part of management? Then just put in a reasonable amount of effort every day and leave. You’re not responsible for this quarters financial performance, management is.

Does working harder and generating surplus value directly benefit you?

Are you truly so independently wealthy that you’d rather just quit your job instead of artificially make things harder for yourself?

  • I’d rather have financial independence, a minimum amount of comfort, a cushy office job, and funnel money to China and keep my communism to myself and not advance communism in any meaningful way; rather than be a social pariah, broke, and staunchly outspoken communist yet still not advance communism in any meaningful way

Call it blackpilled, fake leftist, class traitor, that’s okay. I would probably agree. I don’t think your way is wrong.

But until the vanguard are at my door and landlords hang in the streets, I will be okay materially supporting China’s revolution instead of starting one myself. To be frank, that’s doing more to advance communism than most Western online leftists are doing.

I don’t think a movement like Mao’s is possible in the modern world. Yes, that’s literally what Lenin thought before he pressed the communism button too. But I can’t sacrifice my only hope of retirement for an ideal that is more smoke than substance at this point.

  • +1 for an informal non-stickied work vent Friday ritual

My megacorp’s private equity masters are getting ready to sell, maybe an IPO. So naturally for the last few years they’ve been stripping the copper out of the walls.

Piss off 20-year dedicated customers just to earn another dollar this quarter. Layoff the field until it’s a skeleton crew barely able to function. Corporate processes just… not working. Squeeze and squeeze and squeeze and trim the fat and tighten the belt. Push costs into next quarter and pull profits into this one.

On the bright side, it pays well and my office has become so lean I can’t really get laid off unless they exit the market entirely. And it’s kind of hard to get fired from megacorps if you just put on a smile and play the game and act nice.

Pays the bills and the student loans with a bit to save, a trickle into the 401k, and enough for a yearly week to vacation in Japan. Excellent health benefits.

But man every day it grinds at the soul in a unique way.
