I’m sorry you don’t think people are being helpful but I don’t think the replies are useless, they just aren’t what you want to hear. This is a bad idea, have you considered what would happen if you get caught? You’d be lying on a government form, the TSA can fine up to $17,000 and potentially limit you from flying (which sounds necessary for your career). It’s up to you to choose but I would much rather ask my company to waive the requirement and explain why you feel that way before taking a risk like that.

Moose@moose.bestto News@lemmy.world•Trump says Putin agrees with him US should not have mail-in voting37·8 months ago“He said there’s not a country in the world that uses it now.”
Yes, blindly listen to what Putin says and ignore all the countries that do have working mail in voting.
Moose@moose.bestto PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Cities Skylines and Terraria mods hit with DMCAs, but Steam has a bigger problemEnglish13·8 months agoFrom the info I found, the consensus is it’s a troll who found a way to abuse the Steam reporting. Apparently the list of games being hit by these takedowns is huge, like 25+ games.
Moose@moose.bestto News@lemmy.world•Live updates: Tsunami waves reach Hawaii, California after huge quake off Russia2·8 months agoI know this is probably a joke, but yeah, I don’t buy it. I’ve been keeping an eye on earthquake maps and that region in Russia has been experiencing a ton of small quakes over the last few weeks leading up to this event. It’s also right on a fault line. If Russia somehow caused it, it wouldn’t be from a nuke as those can be detected even underground. It was very likely just an earthquake.
Moose@moose.bestto politics @lemmy.world•Republicans shut down House floor to avoid Epstein vote40·9 months agoI’ve always wondered why politicians get a massive break in the summer, seems like a really bad idea to have the people running the country not around to do their jobs in case of an emergency. I know they can be recalled, but still, that takes time. This isn’t just a USA specific problem either.
Moose@moose.bestto Games@lemmy.world•What are the best free mmorpgs for a beginner?English21·9 months agoThat’s what worries me a bit as well. As far as I’m aware, they seem to be pretty safe for now? Nostalrius WoW was a big private server that got shut down by Blizzard, but they were located in the USA. Turtle WoW is based in Europe (UK if what I found is accurate) and has done transformative work to the game, including working on a whole new compatible client in UE5 that should be releasing this year. But the issue still remains that they primarily have Blizzards assets, story, etc as the base of their game. I guess time will tell, I’m hoping it sticks around though.
Moose@moose.bestto Games@lemmy.world•What are the best free mmorpgs for a beginner?English101·9 months agoDepends what you like, but I’m still nostalgic for old school WoW and find myself wanting to play every now and again but don’t want to subscribe for a whole month. My recommendation for that would be Turtle WoW, it’s an expanded vanilla private server that has it’s own launcher and everything so it’s pretty simple to get started with.

Like jesus fucking christ, 100+ people died and they’re sitting on their ass worried about a ‘six-figure deployment contract’. That’s less than a million dollars! That’s fucking nothing at a government level!!!
This is only a good idea if you live in a small town or if the road doesn’t see much traffic, otherwise it is dangerous and illegal in some places.
I have a Milton Bradley Microvision from around 1979, the first handheld game system that used cartridges. I have the block breaker game, it still works but I think some components are wearing out as the game speed feels way too fast. Thing takes 2 9V batteries!

Guess who owns it now? Private fucking equity. Not a single thing they don’t ruin.
Moose@moose.bestto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Florida Attorney General warns "weather modification" experiments and "geoengineering" could have played a role in Texas floodsEnglish17·9 months agoHmmm, no, couldn’t be the climate change we’ve been warned about for decades, it’s the chemicals the pilots are spraying secretly! If people are really dumb enough to eat this up, we’re fucked.
Moose@moose.bestto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Florida Attorney General warns "weather modification" experiments and "geoengineering" could have played a role in Texas floodsEnglish3·9 months agoThere’s this super dangerous one called H2O, apparently if enough accumulates in the atmosphere it will start to rain!
Moose@moose.bestto World News@lemmy.world•Engine fuel switches cut off before Air India crash that killed 260, preliminary report findsEnglish2·9 months agoI think one of the biggest giveaways will be the voice recording and how they react to the situation. I doubt it will release publicly but it should give at least some idea to the Investigators.
And I was pretty surprised by the switches honestly, I figured they would have at least a guard and a spring loaded toggle, but it’s just the spring loaded toggle. Those are used a lot for any switch you don’t want moving accidentally, so it wasn’t super unique or anything.
Moose@moose.bestto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•I self hosted a World of Warcraft server.English91·9 months agoTurtle WoW is great, I’m dreading Blizzard shutting it down though. I’m hoping they avoid them but I feel their upcoming remastered client might attract too much attention.
Moose@moose.bestto World News@lemmy.world•Engine fuel switches cut off before Air India crash that killed 260, preliminary report findsEnglish1·9 months agoIt’s possible it was intentional, but unless it was a terror attack from the pilot it doesn’t make much sense. Since there was no manifesto or any statement I doubt that. Suicide is technically a possibility, but why take a plane full of people and some on the ground with you? I know some people lose empathy and reason when they get to that point, but it seems significantly more likely to me that the pilot was fatigued and just did the wrong thing, hanlon’s razor and all that. Mistakes are more common than you would think, they’re just not usually ‘cut off fuel to both engines right after takeoff’ bad.
Moose@moose.bestto World News@lemmy.world•Engine fuel switches cut off before Air India crash that killed 260, preliminary report findsEnglish8·9 months agoThe landing gear lever is located between the 2 primary flight displays while the fuel cutoff switches were directly below the throttle. They also look and operate in different ways. The only way I could see someone accidentally confusing the two is if the pilot flew other aircraft types where some function is located in the same place as the fuel cutoff switches.
Apparently the cockpit voice recording caught one pilot asking why they shut off the fuel and the other denying it. They were also turned back on right before the crash and were found in the on position, so it doesn’t appear one was trying to force it off or anything.
Kiwix is probably the easiest way.
