I’m trying commet.chat client for now works on matrix and feels like discord

I already commented elsewhere but I think https://commet.chat/ is the best alternative, it runs on matrix, has voice chat and text. Still needs some work but I think it’s the better part of both worlds

Because one of the things I find most annoying about discord is how the information is much less accessible. Before you could search something on google and find some niche forum talking about it. Nowadays that forum is probably a discord server and the information is hard to find

I’m sure it still exists , it’s just not easy to find these websites. In those times you had search engines that worked, Even before google existed, and the other search engines weren’t as good , you could find authentic websites

Honest question, would something like stoat allow forum threads like in discord but being accessible through a classic forum style webpage through matrix protocol in order for it to beindexed by the wider web?

I would also like to know if stoat offers screen sharing or if it’s just calls and video calls

For real, isn’t this allowing them to have much more control over what you have in the bank? Preventing bank runs as they call it(aka blocking withdrawals)

Is there no open alternative to it? Like old school forums but with a more modern ui and voice chats, and ideally indexed from the wider web. It could be an interesting addition to the fedi verse

I think it will take time , I personally tried to move when the api changed. But now am actively changing after Reddit getting shittier by the day. Last update they introduced games on the official app. Doesn’t make any sense. The feed they keep pushing on you sucks and honestly the content itself is worse nowadays. They have years of users content that is still a huge boost, but with time more and more users will get fed up with these tactics. If Lemmy continues on growing steadily it will eventually replace it

Maybe somehow the apps should have the simplified version of that , where you subscribe to a topic , and get multiple instances. Lenny is inherently more complicated than a centralized app
