Hi!
My name is Laura. I'm a New England-based, queer, neurodivergent writer who envisions a world where our art helps us build the world in which we want to live. I'm married to my gorgeous, resourceful, and brilliant wife. Our cat, Julie, is the cutest little allergen you could possibly meet, and if you met her, you would probably agree! We are also new parents! Our little one is learning to run at the same time as learning to crawl, so we are super busy!
In addition to writing my own books, I also created and manage Underground Bookshelf, a platform dedicated to connecting readers in search of diverse representation with writers whose stories meet their needs. In the summer, I do this by bringing a free secondhand bookshelf to community events in my area to help increase access to literature. The rest of the year, I run the website where I host friendly writing contests, author Q&As, indie book release announcements, and post short fiction, nonfiction, and poetry submitted by folks at all kinds of levels on their writing journeys. I do my best to keep everything I write up-to-date, but am living with a collection of chronic illnesses caused by long-COVID, so my day, my week, and my month can take a lot of odd turns depending on my health and energy levels. Please be patient with me as I do my best to balance the work that comes writing books, managing Underground Bookshelf, taking care of life at home, and dealing with the hurdles of managing chronic illness.
