Nobody lived good under socialism. Maybe the factory chimneys and conveyor belts barely ever stopped but people had no life. You were either slaving in a factory for bread, sossage and a bottle of vodka. Or got sent to the military for years. Or jail.
We were not allowed to speak in our language nor sing. You'd get deported to a military hotspot far away to die or be put in jail for such a crime.
Smartest and most tallanted people and their families were killed or deported. Replaced with ruskies who came to loot and destroy.
Absolutely nobody was glad to live under the oppression of communist russia. While the rest of Europe thrived we lived almost a century behind.
It only brought destruction and pain for us.

Maybe my take is a little biased because my parents and grandparents grew up under its oppression and I know hundreds of people whose families were killed or sent to the deep end of Russia and left there to die. Many of them died. Many walked for years back home because of the Love of their country.
You can't imagine the relief everyone felt when it finally collapsed. That we preserved our language and culture despite of all the efforts to erase us.

Hamas' goal is to kill or kick out all the Jews from the Israel/Palestine. There were a number peace plans which *were rejected by the Palestinians*, because they could not accept Israel existing in any form.
There are all kinds of real problems here, real suffering for Palestinians. But the problem here is that if Hamas Palestinians feel like they have the right to "fight back" will all means to do a genocide on Israel, then it can't be right. And giving concessions to Hamas while this is the goal (and Hamas is shooting unguided rockets in the general direction of Israeli civilians), is obviously a non-starter. Hence even before October 7, it was really hard to morally argue for lifting sanctions on Gaza.
