東京都出身。高橋幸宏（YMO）率いる「OFFICEINTENZIO」での活動を皮切りに、坂本龍一やJazztronikらのツアー／レコーディングに参加。ソロ名義・koeosaemeとして米【Orange Milk Records】やバルセロナの【angoisse】などから作品を発表し、国内外の映像作家や実験音楽家とのコラボレーション、映画・インスタレーション・舞台のための音楽制作など、多岐にわたる活動を展開しているRyo Yoshizawaによるカセット作品『Lilas 』が、Kankyo Recordsからリリース。

私たちは普段、ウェアや香りのようにお気に入りのものを身につけ、自分らしさを表現しています。音楽もまた、記憶や感情を呼び起こし、目には見えない余韻をまとわせる存在と言えるでしょう。
本作は、そんな「音をまとう」という感覚から生まれたアルバムです。テーマは「自分の中に存在するミューズのためのカラーパレット」。五感を通して感じたものを永続的に保持するという発想のもと、それぞれの楽曲タイトルはパレットのカラーコードを示しています。

東洋の桃源郷を思わせるような、穏やかで透明感あふれる瞑想的なサウンドスケープが広がり、その中で作家の多彩な音楽表現が繊細に息づいています。水墨画のように淡く澄んだ響きとクリアな電子音が交差し、有機的な音色と無機質な断片がゆるやかに行き来する。
たゆたう音風景の中には、熱帯雨林の奥深くで生まれるみずみずしいビートや、宇宙的な広がりを感じさせる楽曲も散りばめられています。アンビエント、ジャズ、現代クラシカル、実験音楽の要素が交錯し、それぞれが儚くも鮮やかに姿を現しては消えていく。

音の粒が戯れるように自由自在に音色を奏でながら、幾重にも重なる余韻が世界を織りなし、聴き手を柔らかく包み込みます。音を纏うことによって生まれる、内側の感情や余韻を丁寧に紡いでいくような——軽やかさと深みが共存する、心地よく夢幻的な音の世界が広がる作品です。[GRRRDEN]

Born in Tokyo, Ryo Yoshizawa began his career with OFFICEINTENZIO, a project led by Yukihiro Takahashi (YMO), and went on to join tours and recordings with artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto and Jazztronik. Under his solo moniker koeosaeme, he has released works on international labels including Orange Milk Records (U.S.) and angoisse (Barcelona). Beyond his solo practice, he actively collaborates with filmmakers and experimental musicians, creating music for film, installations, and stage performances. His latest cassette work, Lilas, is now released via Kankyo Records.
We often express our individuality through the things we wear or surround ourselves with—clothing, fragrance, or favorite objects. Music, too, is something we can “wear”: it evokes memories and emotions, wrapping us in an invisible resonance.
This album was born from that very idea—the sensation of adorning oneself with sound. Its theme, “a color palette for the muse that lives within,” reflects the artist’s attempt to preserve what he perceives through the senses. Each track title corresponds to a color code, symbolizing a shade from this internal palette.
Across the album unfolds a serene, translucent, and meditative soundscape reminiscent of an Eastern utopia. Within it, Yoshizawa’s diverse musical expressions gently breathe—where the soft, clear tones of ink-wash painting intertwine with crystalline electronic textures, and organic timbres drift alongside synthetic fragments.
Amid these floating sonic scenes, one encounters lush rhythms that seem to emerge from deep within a tropical forest, as well as compositions evoking cosmic vastness. Ambient, jazz, contemporary classical, and experimental elements intersect, each appearing briefly yet vividly before dissolving back into silence.
The music dances freely, as if sound particles playfully interact, weaving layers of resonance that softly envelop the listener. Through this act of “wearing sound,” Yoshizawa tenderly traces inner emotions and lingering sensations—crafting a work where lightness and depth coexist, and an ethereal, dreamlike world unfolds with exquisite subtlety.

There is something unimaginable happening here: blast-beats, toilet sounds, sonic manipulation, and a wild imagination for experimental beat. ◎omaru◎ is such a huge surprise to listen through even now because of how silly yet emotionally rewarding the progressions become on each track. I believe this to be one of the most entertaining and underlooked releases one will find, but I'm glad it's hear for the world to eventually recognize~ Dave T.
