How much of this is fact or propaganda? I’ve grown suspicious of claims by the victor. To be clear, I’m sure they are clear advantage with technology that allows you to dominate, but some claims about the speed at which they are able to build some structure seems a little too fast, their domination seems a little too good. It sounds more like word of mouth or voluntary propaganda where nuance has been lost to time.

But I not an expert about history, so I really want your opinion on that PugJesus. I might be completely wrong on applying my current biased vision on historical events. The same way people say it’s impossible for the Egyptian to have built pyramid without modern equipment. When I hear fort or bridge I imagine something that might not be what it is. How would they build a floating bridge so fast? Do they transports the equipment with them? How?

Ça va paraître très ironique ou malhonnête vu la position que j’ai défendu mais je ne lis presque pas de livre aujourd’hui (papier ou autre). Du coup, je ne suis pas vraiment au courant des dérives dont tu parles, mais merci de les mettre en lumière. Tu aurais des liens pour que j’en apprenne plus ? Je sais qu’il y a beaucoup de soucis avec l’audiovisuel ou le journalisme en France sur ces sujets là, mais je pensais naïvement que la littérature était justement exonéré de ce genre de problème.

To answer your question, I think that it’s about value.

A book can be read by multiple people over time, so it can have a bigger lifespan and usage than a single lifetime. By destroying it, you cut that potential. For example, with what OP did, you might loose a part of these books, which make them worthless.

Beyond that, you have made a destructive modification on an object. Usually, there is only two outcome possible after this. Either you made it better in some way (like people who mod they cars or, to stay on topic, people who draw on the paper edge of a book) or you decreased the value of the object (if you were to resell it, this book has now very little value, except if it gain some notoriety for some reason).

I don’t think we should strive and encourage the destruction of value or voluntary spoilage. This mostly struck a nerve as most of what we do is fight entropy (and that requires energy).

We are surrounded by products and we may sometimes loose the context of how something is made and what it took, especially when we are living in a consumerist society. Also many “made thing” are close to worthless and sometimes absurd (“who would need that?”). This and trends like fast fashion accelerate this feeling of spoiling on a mass scale, making this voluntary acts of destruction even more irritating.

One last point, book burning and destruction is usually done to erase culture and people, so it’s related to very bad events and it feels deeply wrongs.

But, of course, if OP is honest about doing that to be able to read something that he would not read without (99% sure it’s for the même), and the books modified in questions are not prescious or rare then I agree that it is not a big deal. In the end this is done for the laughs, it will not trigger a big trend and cause the destruction of precious books. But I just wanted to explain the triggered side and try to answer your question hoping it was honest.

They added a field and everyone is losing their minds because systemd has already a bad reputation for doing too much and being too powerful and also because everyone hate age verification so they don’t want it in their free OS so it crystalize the hate. There was something about AI too if I recall. I don’t want US law to impact international FOSS and I don’t want any kind of identity or age verification inside my OS so I understand and share the rage. But this change was very much not a big or impactful thing. Please correct me if I’m wrong, I’m 70% confident on the issue.

I can only recommend you watch Evangelion if you never did. Very weird and sometimes uncomfortable but great monument of anime and cool action scene and deep subject about human nature. You can also read the manga.

The manga, original anime and remake have all variation in the events of the story. I think they also did a manga following the protagonist in a world without any Mecha/angel. It’s weird but it’s a classic for a reason, but I can understand it’s not for everyone

In case this is a serious question, it’s the remain of Rei body after the event of the story. I don’t think it means something other than serve as a reminders (along with all the blood) of the choice of the Shinji. His choice has a lot of meaning and is the main point of the author. Choose real connections with others, even though it will hurt you and create damages permanently.

Honestly, nothing from this post gave it away. I liked the style and zooming on the picture I wasn’t able to understand the technique used (digital, mixed media, embroidery, etc.). Also I wanted to find the artist somewhere I could follow him or at least see more pieces or in higher details.

But unfortunately while searching his name, I discovered that he use GenAI for his art (at least he’s very open about it so there is that). I was at least expecting some sort of process that includes GenAi with more creative transformation or hand’s on approach but I wasn’t able to find anything. I might be wrong but I truly think he’s just a prompt artists unfortunately 🫤 I wonder then who are the artists that were stolen to generate these pictures. If you know art close to this style please share the names. Thanks !
