CREATIVE SPACE is for a second consecutive year in the running for two Caribbean Media Awards. Image above is of me headed to last year’s awards in Barbados, after which the column won the award for excellence in media coverage of Caribbean arts and culture, similarly from nominations in two different categories. The nominations this time around are –
Best item on a child right’s issue for “CREATIVE SPACE #6 OF 2025: THE STORY OF AMBER, ANANDA, AND NOW CHANTEL“ & Excellence in media coverage of Caribbean arts & culture, the same prize CREATIVE SPACE won last year, for 3 stories this time “CREATIVE SPACE #24 OF 2025: RECOVERING STORIES LOST (THE TAINOS)“, “CREATIVE SPACE #17 OF 2025: ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW TO DISCOVER; HIKING MIDDLE GROUND“, and “CREATIVE SPACE #25 OF 2025: MY ART WEEK FAVES“.
These are 2 of only 3 nominations for Antiguan and Barbudan media this year, the other being for ABS Television/Radio in the entertainment programme category, from a total of 683 Caribbean media award entries across 63 categories, 41 media organizations, and 16 countries and territories.
As I noted on my Facebook, these nominations are especially encouraging coming at a time of transition for CREATIVE SPACE which, since being cut (for financial reasons) from the paper that was its home for the last five years, has pivoted to my patreon with hope of reader-funding/support to enable me to keep it going. So, if you believe in the work I’m doing, consider supporting it. Thanks.
As I’ve said previously, while WordPress will remain as an archive and for the monthly summaries, new installments of CREATIVE SPACE will be uploaded exclusively to my patreon. You can invest in the collection or become a member, with the option of gifting a membership to someone else as well. There’s more going on there beyond CREATIVE SPACE and its growing.
The most recent posts on that platform are –
1, Journaling Writing 6; If You wanted The Whole Experience, You should have been Here
2, Jhohadli goes live (event promo)
3, CREATIVE SPACE #25 OF 2025: MY ART WEEK FAVES (Repost; CMA-nominated)
4, CREATIVE SPACE #24 OF 2025: RECOVERING STORIES LOST (THE TAINOS) (Repost; CMA-nominated)

I’m still figuring which of the columns in Patreon insights is best for measuring growth and this round I’m leaning toward plays as that suggests actual engagement with the content. And by that metric, the most popular posts for the month of June 2026 have been –
1, Journaling Writing 6; If You wanted The Whole Experience, You should have been Here
2, Hi, (my first Patreon post ever)
3, CREATIVE SPACE interview with Caribbean filmmaker Anderson Edghill
4, CREATIVE SPACE #2 OF 2026: ON MUSIC DOCS AND FILM CULTURE
5, CREATIVE SPACE #3 OF 2026 – THIS ART IS PRIMAL

Let me also remind you that my AntiguanWriter YouTube channel which I also hope to grow to the point where it too can become monetized has a CREATIVE SPACE playlist. There’s new content there as well.
This, of course, is the only new content on WordPress since last month’s summary – as mentioned WordPress is for archiving and summarizing, and new CREATIVE SPACE articles will be uploaded directly to my patreon. Read them there and support if you can. Of the archived content, you’ve most interacted in June with –
1, CREATIVE SPACE #6 OF 2025: THE STORY OF AMBER, ANANDA, AND NOW CHANTEL
2, CREATIVE SPACE #17 OF 2025: ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW TO DISCOVER; HIKING MIDDLE GROUND
3, About
5, CREATIVE SPACE #2 OF 2022 – THE CII™ OF PUBLIC SECTOR DRESS CODES
So, as that mix suggests, I’m not new to this and the articles I write are relevant, cultural, and varied (while under the umbrella of Caribbean art and culture, from and of where I am local, i.e. Antigua and Barbuda).
I am an independent creator, a writer and arts advocate with a background in journalism; I ask you to support the work because as an independent, your support is what enables me to continue the work. So, if you can, support my patreon, engage with my content on youtube so I can get my numbers up and become monetized, and consider using my services as a writer and editor and facilitator – speaking of, I’ve started offering Jhohadli Writing Project workshops on my patreon, as mentioned, and if that’s of value to you, register for the next one in July 2026. My books are here <—check those out as well.
My next CREATIVE SPACE, teased in the May 2026 summary, is coming soon – I just need to write it. Being freelance is a juggling act, but, again, your support will help cover the time needed; and remember that I am open to brand partnerships, advertising opportunities, product reviews, or for any other business, plus you can, as I’ve been saying throughout, directly support My Patreon. Thanks to those of you who already are.
