🎮 FAQ: GLOBAL GAME JAM 2026 🎮

Global Game Jam might seem intimidating, but that might be because you still have too many unanswered questions about it! Get familiar with the event and how it works!

Got any other questions? Let us know in the comments below and we'll answer them as swiftly as we can!

Who can join?

CIITzens, CIITeens, and other undergraduate students (must be 18 or above) who are interested in making games—whether you have prior experience or are just starting out! CIIT alumni are also welcome!

What if I don’t know how to make a game?

That’s okay! Game jams are a great opportunity to learn. You’ll meet people with different skills and can contribute to a team in various ways, like brainstorming, playtesting, or creating assets.

What is the theme?

The theme will be revealed at the event kick-off, so get ready for a surprise!

Are physical/board games allowed?

Yes! This year’s Global Game Jam @ CIIT will be open to physical/board games!

Can I borrow equipment?

Only very limited people are allowed to request to borrow equipment. It is on a first-come, first-serve basis and the borrowing form will only be sent to those who have successfully registered!

Will there be a reward?

Yes! All participants will receive lanyards, and awards will be given to teams with the best games.

Do I have to use a specific game engine/software?

Not at all! You’re free to use any game engine or software that works best for your project.

Do I have to be in a team to join?

Nope! You can join solo or you can sign up as a “Looking for Group” participant and join a team during the event.

Who owns the intellectual property of the game made for GGJ2025?

The intellectual property belongs to the participants. However, GGJ, UnPAUSE, and CIIT may showcase the games for demonstration purposes.

Can I use premade assets?

Yes, but you must disclose which assets are pre-made, and they must comply with copyright laws (e.g., use assets with proper licenses or create your own).

Can I use Generative AI for my assets?

No.

What should I bring to the game jam?

Bring your laptop, charger, any tools you need (drawing tablets, microphone, etc.), headphones, and anything to make yourself comfortable (pillows, blankets, etc.). Wi-Fi will be provided at the venue.

Do I have to finish my game to participate?

Not at all! The game jam is about creativity and learning. Submitting a prototype or unfinished game is perfectly fine.

Will there be an entrance fee?

Nope! No entrance fee for anyone who registered!

Are we allowed to go home during the jam?

Yes, but the venue gates close at 9 PM and reopen at 6 AM. Please note that you cannot work on your game outside the venue.

YAOW

my fingers hurt

ADD MORE VROOM VROOM MECHANICS! make the camera more dynamic and have the player have more feedback when accelerating, turning, using the skills, etc. even minimal animations can work or simple thought bubbles or something! OVERALL COOL AND WILL BE EVEN COOLER IF U ADD MORE TO IT!!

weapon sprites were not popping up, so for most of the time i was literally clueless (lol). the kraken health bar also wasnt showing up so i was just hitting it till it died LMAO the tentacle attack areas were also pretty inconsistent i barely got hit LMAO OVERALL COOL GAME AND GOOD MUSIC THO

i love u guys

idk if i did something wrong but if u spam space and go straight up u finish the game immediately.... also i fell off the map.... u should add indicators (audio, ui, animation) on where the enemies are, or atleast if they're near u! also if u spam space u can do the dialogue till the end LMAO OVERALL COOL CONCEPT AND I CAN SEE U DOING SOMETHING MORE WITH THIS "reveal" CONCEP

move speed is way too slow for me! (i've played quake/q3 religiously as a kid, or maybe its a skill issue LMAO) cool and fun use bubbles tho :D

for this kind of game, it's better if you have a bigger map! the player was also pretty big and moving around was tough especially with a lot of enemies! overall, good start!!
