Thank you! The audio may have been due to this https://github.com/karl-zylinski/odin-raylib-web/pull/14 but the PR was merged and I implemented it in my game. It actually may be a bug in my ChucK code, hate to admit it.

Thank you for playing!!

Was this metadata we were supposed to add? I used raylib and aseprite, I can't figure out these fancy engines!

I love the dungeon crawler genre, and you did a great job implementing it here!

For some reason this reminded me of a minigame from Mario Party. So this was a "Double Dejavu" haha. I thought it was great. Congrats!

This is a really fun game. Very cozy. I can see myself playing this a lot.

I love the "glitch" concept!

This has nothing to do with the theme

Great job on submitting your first game! I'm impressed by the artwork, what did you use?

My advice would be that theres way too much text onscreen in the beginning. I don't know where to start reading. People these days have really short attention spans so a clear, easy tutorial is crucial.

Thanks! the color masks on the hit animations is one huge benefit of using Raylib

Thank you!!!

I am fascinated by the success adictiveness of Brotato. Thanks for playing!

I love it! I also had the exact same thought, but a completely different implementation! I love that I can also view the controls in the game. Nice one!

(1 edit)

Nice job! And honestly, I love the artwork!! Also the game's page is impressive.

I think this is the most creative submission to a game jam that I've come across so far, and I've seen a lot of good ones!

The idea is not bad, but needs some polish.

This game is pretty masterful, especially considering the time limit. I couldn't beat it, but I had so much fun playing.

Bravo!

Please see my post here

Hopefully this will make it easier for players to test!

Thank you everyone!!!

This is really good for your first game. I can tell that you put a ton of effort into it! Keep making games!!

Thanks! Odin is a really awesome programming language. I love learning about new tools too. One thing I'm not quite used to yet is the level of control that lower level programming gives you... that's probably why you get some screen flickering when the textures load. I'm still learning how to render graphics optimally, but there aren't any memory leaks that I've observed or anything like that. I am working on making a web version now.

Thank you so much for playing!

Hi thank you so much!

Oh no, I hope your eyes weren't damaged from reading my horrible code! Ha!

I know its super important to compile for the web. My last jam submission was done with Odin and I did find a guide to compile with emscripten. I should have used it from the start, especially since I have no save files to write or anything like that. Oh well, I'll give it a try now and I'll be ready next time!

Thanks so much for your advice. And its really nice that you looked at my source files.

Cheers!!

Nice job! I'm impressed with how much was done in the time frame

Can't play

Hi All,

I made a post about my submission and how I think it went.

It's great to be a part of this awesome community.

Great job everyone!

Still following the progress of this game and I have to say I can't wait for the official release! Also, the premise is eerily relevant given RAM prices these days haha.

Pleasantly surprised by how fun it was

I really love the art style and overall ambiance of this game. The parallax bg is beautiful and the physics feel great. Bravo!

The MC is and terrain are so well made, as is every animation except for... the attack? I was expecting the character to swing its sword. But this style of art and gameplay are totally my vibe. Good job!

One thing I would strongly recommend is a tutorial-like feature - especially for a game jam. The less time it takes for us to figure out how to play, the more we will be able to play the actual game. An arrow pointing in the direction of the goal, or even some dialogue would have improved the experience significantly.

First of all, reading the descriptions literally made me rofl. I like this interpretation of the theme a lot. The visuals and sound category would have been a 5/5 if there was only a simple walking and idle animation. The lighting effects are absolutely impressive, and if there was even a tiny bit more time spent on the sprite animations, it would have made a big difference. I really hope you expand on this game because I enjoyed it a lot.

I enjoyed trying this out a lot. Great concept, just a little hard to get the hang of!

I'm sorry, but I cant get this game to run

Nice! So I had a similar interpretation of the theme, but I actually like your implementation better. The idea that movement creates a sonic wave of sorts rather than simply adding to a sound meter is an excellent idea. Great job!

Hey I couldn't get the Linux version to run, but I'll try it on windows as soon as I get a chance

Okay, I'll check them out when I have some time!

You make a lot of games! Which is your favorite? I will try it and post some feedback

Thank you so much for your reply, and thank you for playing the game!

I'm really happy to hear that you had an overall good experience testing it. The sound design side of things is definitely more my strong suite compared to my pixel art. I know that the artwork is pretty amateurish and I'm working on improving my skills there!

As for the fog of war mechanic, it's definitely something I've considered. However, I want to keep it as close to the historical board games that Eclipse is based on as possible. The hidden pieces and capture-the-flag mechanics actually go way back to the early 1900s (and maybe before). The idea is to test the players memory and deductive reasoning (guessing the pieces based on which pieces are already captured, etc).

I'll definitely polish the units and overall feel. I really appreciate that advice. If you have a friend who's willing to play with you, please give the multiplayer a try! Multiplayer should hopefully really bring out that board game feel.

Thank you very much again for playing, it means a lot to me.

Hi All, I recently released a beta version for my game "Eclipse". Since then I have been making many updates based on user feedback. One suggestion I received was to clean up my UI - specifically the button assets. I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind taking a look and sharing any suggestions you might have!

Here is the game:

Thank you so much!

I think this concept is definitely worth expanding on. It's a unique take on the deckbuilder genre. The fact that the tutorial is interactive already makes it top tier. I didn't completely understand at first, but after one more tutorial play through I got it (Personally, I almost never understand a game on first play-through). I will definitely be following Fatal Exception's development!!
