Such an interesting concept and fantastic execution, this was a really cool piece of art!
I was wondering, how did you get the music player in the web build? Did you make it yourself?
Really really liked this one, well done!
This was one of my favorites from the jam, was sad when it ended because I wanted to keep listening to it.
A really nice mix of textures and rhythms, really soothing to listen to, it feels like you go into a flow state.
Also really liked the way the frequencies land, with the base being almost just a low hum. Really cool song!
This was cool!
The voice sample you used worked really well, it was kind of very musical and rhythmic in a way?
You clearly based the song on it and moved around it which worked really well, the end result was really awesome.
The part towards the end where it got super noisy/distorted/compressed also sounded really cool, though could maybe have used some sound balancing cause it hurt my ears a bit x)
Overall I really liked it, good job ^^
I'm curious what you mean by non-octave tuning system, is it something like microtonal?
I feel like the main melody is cool, but maybe not very abstract? You do introduce some abstract elements with the noises that happens around the main melody, so I still count it as abstract in the end ^^
I like this kind of minimal postrock/ambient music so I liked this song overall, well done!
Could have been the soundtrack to a horror movie :D
You managed to get some really sick (in a good way) sounds and textures that made it really interesting to listen to.
It's also very very abstract, almost completely lacking in melody, but with some hints of musicality that I think elevate it a lot.
Overall a really solid entry ^^
You really nailed the abstract part here, this felt more like storytelling through abstract art than traditional music, which for this jam is a compliment :D
With the title it makes me think of forgotten memories, that we forget and lose everything we don't save.
I'm a huge fan of ambient so this was really cool, good job :D
Impressive that you put a whole EP together! And the project files look insane :D
For inKröptid:
It felt very abstract in the sense that it completely disregarded normal song structure, I could never anticipate where it was going next, it almost felt like a patchwork of different genres, styles and timbres that didn't fit together on purpose, if that makes sense. Overall I liked it, especially the ending portion.
For iegiStaR:
This was really good! This one felt a lot more cohesive, kind of a mix of industrial, noise and dark techno. I really like this type of music so I enjoyed this one a lot. I would still call it abstract in part because some of the noise is very unconventional for music, so there was still a sense of bringing the atonal and abstract into it. This is a song I would listen to on my own, which is very high praise for me :D
For einstLiämbert:
I listened to this last, and was really surprised that it started more towards jazz/prog rock. The heavier industrial/noise parts were really good just like on the last track, it's just that personally I'm not a fan of prog so those parts didn't really land for me. This one was probably the least "abstract" of the three, though it did have some of the genre blending of the first track and some of the noise from the second so I think it still counts ^^
The weird scatting at the end made me giggle x)
Overall really fun to listen to, and super impressive that you put so much together for the jam, well done!
Thank you so much for the elaborate comment, I really appreciate it! :D
You definitely got a lot of what I was going for, so I was really happy to see that ^^
At first I was trying to go for something purely abstract and atonal, but I didn't like anything I came up with so I allowed myself to add a little bit of musicality into it and then I liked it way more.
Thanks again for the kind words!!
Also just a fun detail, all the sound was actually made with an electric guitar run through some pedals and an amplifier, no synths or digital effects used at all :D
Really enjoyed both the art and the funny, amazing soundtrack :D
Unfortunately there were some bugs that made it almost impossible to play, the person asking for the cake would be stuck as the same person as the first round, and the order would also be stuck as the first order, making it really difficult to figure out what to make.
I think if not for such a breaking bug this woud have been really fun to play!
This was really fun! I love vampire survivors and it was cool to see it recreated in pico-8 with a bomb theme fitting the jam :)
The level of polish felt quite high, the art was good, you had some fitting music that was pretty good as well (if a bit repetetive) and some nice sound effects.
I do think that one of my favorite aspects of vampire survivors was missing, which is when you have huge waves of enemies that all get melted. I figured it was an engine limitation though, as when I got deep into runs the game would start lagging a lot even with just 100 enemies on screen.
I also found it a bit too easy, but that might just be because I've grinded a lot of vampire survivors. On my second run I was basically unkillable and only died at level 50 or something when the game was lagging so badly I couldn't tell what was happening.
Overall a really impressive submission, doing this in pico-8 seems insane to me so I was blown away by that, as well as with the number of abilities and characters you had, really well done! :D
Really cool to see someone who made the art, code and music themselves, well done!!
I thought it was an interesting twist to pong by introducing multiple strategies (should you time the bomb so it explodes on their side, increase the speed to make it harder to catch, etc).
Some more feedback or reminder for which button does what wouldbe good, I had to keep it minimized so I could read what button does what.
Some sound effects for the bounces and explosions would have also been a nice addition.
Cool submission overall! :)
Incredible levels of polish for a gamejam, I was super impressed!!
Visual style was great, really immersive and well done. I would maybe tone down the glow effect a little, but overall it made a great impression.
It was a bit hard to understand how to play even with reading the tutorial, and I sometimes died randomly without knowing why, some more feedback and onboarding would be good.
I also ran into some bugs were cards just didn't do anything. Maybe that was intentional but the lack of feedback was really confusing.
Overall though this was an absolutely incredible entry, can't believe you got this done for a gamejam. If you keep working on it I would definitely wanna try it again! :)
This was a cool game!
Not sure if it was too difficult or I'm just bad at these types of games, but I couldn't get past the second level.
Sound effects were nice, and the physics were great. Just the right amount of wacky for this type of game.
You completely nailed it on the physics part, I just wish it was a bit easier so I could progress :D
Thanks for the feedback!
Music and SFX are definitely at the top of the to-do list if we decide to keep working on it :D
Completely agree on the issues with the potion making, its also something we really wanted to fix but ran out of time, as you do in a game jam.
The cursor size is a bug, it should get bigger visually as well but doesn't and I didn't have time to fix it x)
Agreed on the shop becoming quickly redundant, we brainstormed ways to keep it relevant but ran out of time so we couldn't try any of them. I was considering something like special deals were you can get upgrade materials cheaply or something, not sure what would have worked best.
Hahah happy to hear that! The ending was maybe a bit too easy to reach, it was added at the last minute so we didnt have time to playtest it ^^
Love to see another incremental game, I had to keep playing until I was able to beat it :D
Couldn't figure out how to attach an image but I ended with a 1h 2m playtime to beat the game ^^
As some others have mentioned the progression could use some work, it got really slow and grindy at some points.
Loved the low poly 3d artstyle, and the art itself was really well made and looked super polished already.
Sound effects were decent but I really missed having some music to go along with it.
I also got some lag spikes once I had a large number of trees and fruits placed.
Overall this was a really fun experience, definitely my favorite in the jam so far. You definitely have a lot of potential here if you keep working on it ^^
For your first game this was incredible! The art was really good and I was impressed with how much level design you managed to do, and how good it was.
Like you mentioned the main issue is a lack of sound, but it's always hard to make time for in a game jam. I would also say you should give the spikes more contrast so they stand out against a light background.
Other than that I thought this was a really solid entry and a great first game!
Graphics were really cool, the look was really original and interesting, though it did make things a bit hard to see sometimes.
Music and sound were both on point, really enjoyed them both.
Gameplay was a bit simplistic and got boring after a few minutes, I think some enemy variety as well as some stakes (like some story or some goal to achieve other than just survive for as long as possible) would be a great addition!
Overall really well done! ^^
The art was really great, especially the player character. Did you put smear frames on the dash?? It looked great!
The music was really cozy and fit the vibe really well.
Unfortunately I don't speak spanish, so couldn't read the tutorial, but I figured out dashing at least. I might have missed some other mechanic because it was way too difficult, could not progress past the second room unfortunately.
The art for this was amazing, everything looked great!!
The music was pretty good but a bit repetetive, and the sound effects were decent as well.
The controls didnt work for me at all, I got motion sick from floaty glidy controls and how much the camera moved around. I also couldn't figure out how to progress past the first large room you start in.
Overall on the visuals and style its a perfect score, and I think it could be really cool with some more work put into the controls!
This was cute, the art was great and the trump impression was surprisingly good :D
Was a bit sad to see the cool catgirl character be a nazi though :(
In terms of actual feedback, the music was very compressed and bitcrushed, not sure if that was on purpose or not?
The cutscenes really elevated it and made it feel really fun, the gameplay itself was a bit simplistic but I felt you played this more for the humor and to see what would happen next, and that part worked really well ^^
Thank you so much for the feedback and kind words!
More recipes are definitely something we want to add, and mini-game is something we're considering as well.
The idea of clicking recipes to auto-fill I hadn't thought of, but it is a really clever idea!
Thanks for the mini-bugreports as well, we will probably keep working on this so it helps a lot ^^
Thank you so much for the detailed message, it's very appreciated!!
This was our first time working with pixel art so I'm unfortunately unfamiliar with the terms you mentioned but I will look them up and try to fix them, thanks a lot for pointing them out!
I've been interested in trying Godot, I think what's making it feel a bit daunting is learning GDScript, but I definitely want to give it a proper try sometime.
Completely agree on the missing juice and feedback, as well as the lack of SFX and music. It's something we were aware of but ran out of time to fix, we will probably go back and add it after the review period is over ^^
Good luck to you as well, and thank you so much for the kind words <3
This one was really addictive, I ended up playing for like 30 minutes :D
The song was good, but got a bit repetetive after a while. Some sound effects would also have been good.
Really great usage of the theme, and the deck RNG made it really fun to strategize. Would be really interesting to see how it would play if you added some roguelike or drafting mechanics!
I totally understand then. I think some level design to make the rooms look different or guide the player would be really helpful, I felt like it was really hard to navigate and remember where I've been, and there were no new information or feedback when I killed the miniboss, so I just assumed that was the end.
One of my favorites from the jam, this was incredible! First of all, I love weird games so this fit right up my alley, loved the artstyle and sound design!
The looping mechanic was cool but a bit confusing, even though I beat the game I still feel like I don't quite understand how the "repeat" part is supposed to work.
The character was super cute and the level design and animations were great, really really loved this one! :D
Cool submission! I really enjoyed the combo of dice rolling with dungeon crawling, clever idea :D
I don't really see the point of the movement dice though, whats the benefit compared to just having free movement? A tutorial for how combat stats work would also be helpful, it took some time to figure out.
Artstyle and music were both good, and I liked that you put a boss fight in there as well ^^
